Guys, sorry if this has been posted before, right now I am mobile so couldn't search.

I had to fire up PIE ang get to the forum just to say this. I am data roaming on the verizon network!!! Right now, posting this from the same connection. I thought sprint only had roaming with alltel, and here in Massachusetts we don't have a single tower from them. So, what's up? can you guys try it out, too?

pretty darn cool except its picking up only 1x even though I know verizon has evdo up in this area.

    whooopie!

    codyppc; 2 reasons:

    1. my ##debug# screen says so. 800mhz tower. Sprint doesn't have any 800mhz tower.

    2. because my phone says so. I have the R icon on the top and on the today screen says 'digital roaming'.

ill be willing to film it for video proof if anyone wants it.

    It's true. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1062206

It's only 1X, but hey, maybe we can ED-VO roam sometime down the road.

yea, this is pretty huge if you ask me. I can now get verizon service where sprint is spotty and still be able to get my push mail going on.

so if we have free voice roaming in our plans, does that mean data roaming is free too?

Pretty much yes. And sprint doesnt crack down on people who use more roaming than their native network, which is great.

this is good news. I can't wait until it is available in more areas. I no it's not available in my area right now cause I'm always getting the " unable to data roam" error.

verizon allows calls to come through on 1x even during an active data session. Does this mean it will do this on Sprint as well while roaming on Verizon 1x?
    Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 700p > Treo 700wx -> Mogul -> Touch Pro

I was really looking forward to test that out, it was one the first things i thought about when i saw i was roaming. I quickly grabbed my friend's phone and called myself. No luck, it went straight to voicemail.

    20225 enables data roaming.

i can grab a EV signal from VZ initally if I force my wx to roam and even can do a dl test. But the second it gets a seond with a dormant connection it reverts back to 1x

correct me if i'm wrong ' but sprint uses 850mhz and 1900mhz. if I do a ##debug# and see these numbers i'm still on sprint towers.

what does verizon use? how do I know if I'm roaming on there towers?

I thought that thay both used 850 and 1900. if so how can you tell with ##debug#?

    thanks, cody

    Sprint only uses 1900mhz.

    VZ uses 850mhz

Force your phone into roam mode and see what happens

Hmmm...I'm in Verizon and Alltel territory. When I force roaming it shows me 1x. When I try and connect to the Net it says "Dialed #777...the answering modem has disconnected..." My prl is 20224, which some folks report data roaming on

When I called sprint they told me I would have no data coverage 6 or miles from the thruway. My verizon ceverage is excellent and I have data everywhere. Too bad I did not know this a few months ago.
