I have read on msmobiles.com yesterday that there is a program that allows you to close the program completely instead of just minimizing it. However , they haven't provided a link. Does anyone know where to find it?

There are a number of programs that can do this. A popular one is Magic Button.

I love magic button. Exceptions, task manager, and very small and efficient.

What the OP is talking about is HTCs bold (and welcomed) decision to include in the ROM od all their future aku 3.0 devices, a contol panel app to configure the X button's behavior.

I am not sure if any HTC device with this has been released yet, so there is no .cab yet.

I'd watch XDA forums for this as many will want it.

It will be included in all HTC devices w/AKU 3.2 and above, so expect to see it in 6 months. If we're lucky!

probably sooner than that. The HTC Dash is aku 3.0 as is the Samsung Blackjack. Aku 3.2 was released to manufactures probably about 8 weeks ago.

    Ha! I was right!

Just came out! Haven't tried it yet:

Update: Just tried it and although I get the Control Panel app, enabling the program seems to do nothing for me. Weird.

Evidently, it doesn't work on the 6700 either.

Starting to think something is missing...

Hopefully we'll be able to get our hands on it. MSMobiles said that it works on all Pocket PC's.
"HTC has proven that not only it is possible but also, that such program works in non-HTC manufactured Pocket PC phones (we tested it)"

    http://msmobiles.com/news.php/5772.html

So at least we know it works, like Malatesta said, it's probably missing files.

    New Version already out.

    It now works:

It's okay, nothing great. It only works when you tap the 'X' via stylus, not the OK button AFAI can tell.

What's the advantage of this over something like MagicButton?

none really. It's bigger than Magic button.

From HTC's, new users and our standpoint though its nice since we don't have to create "yet another thread on how to close an app with X"
