    I just downloaded outlook 2003 for 4smartphone and everything works except for emailing using my contacts. If I select new email and then click on the "To" button, none of my contacts show up. It only lists Global names (which I have none), how do I get it to find all of my contacts?

    did you choose "Lookup" after clicking "To" ?
    Just call me Berd.

    You need to do the following:

    1. Open outlook

    2. Click the address book icon (on the top right near the FIND icon)

    3. Once that is open, choose "TOOLS"

    4. Then Click OPTIONS

    5. The first tab says "show this address list first" - change that from "global" (or whatever it is) to "Contacts" - thats your own personal contacts.

    6. Enjoy

    Here is what 4smartphone told me to do, and it worked!
    Thanks for using 4SmartPhone.
    Outlook 2003 handles the address book differently when connected to an Exchange server.

    Here are the steps to make sure it is set up correctly:

    A) Create the "Outlook Address Book"
    ============================

    (This step might be unnecessary)

    In Outlook:
    1. In Menu item ->Tools select ->Options
    (which will open the "Options" window)
    2. Click on the "Mail Setup" Tab at the top
    3. Click on the "E-mail Accounts..." button
    (which will open the "E-Mail Accounts" window)
    4. With "Add a new directory or address book" selected
    Click on the "Next >" button
    5. With "Additional Address Books" selected
    Click on the "Next >" button
    6. With "Outlook Address Book" selected
    Click on the "Next >" button
    (which will close the "E-Mail Accounts" window)
    7. You will get a message box that says:
    "The E-mail Account you have just added will not start until you choose
    Exit from the File menu, and then restart Microsoft Office Outlook"
    Click on the "OK" button
    (which will close the message box)
    You can continue with step 8.

    Instead. if you get the following message box,
    "This account or directory type already exists and cannot be specified twice."
    Your Address Book is already created.
    Click on the "OK" button
    (which will close the message box)
    Click on the "CANCEL" button
    (which will close the "E-mail Accounts" window)
    Click on the "CANCEL" button
    (which will close the "Options" windows)
    You can proceed directly to step B

    8. Click on the "OK" button
    (which will close the "Options" window)

    Close Outlook and restart Outlook

    B) Show your contacts first
    =====================

    You will notice that when connecting to an Exchange server, Outlook automatically
    changes the order in which things appear in the address book.

    Here is how to put your own contacts back on top :

    In Outlook:
    1. In Menu item ->Go select ->Contacts
    (which will set Outlook in the "Contacts" section)
    2. At the top of the left pane, right-click on ->Contacts and select ->Properties
    (which will open the "Contacts Properties" window)
    3. Click on the "Outlook Address Book" Tab at the top
    4. Make sure that the "Show this folder as an email address book" is checked.
    5.. Click on the "OK" button to close the "Contacts Properties" window
    6. In Menu item ->Tools select ->Address Book...
    (which will open the "Address Book" window)
    7. In the Address book window, click on ->Tools Select ->Options
    (which will open the "Addressing" window)
    8. Using the pull down menu, select Contacts for "Show this address list first"
    9. Make sure that you also have Contacts under "Keep personal addresses in"
    10. In the "When sending email, ..." list, move Contacts to the top using the arrows
    11. Click "Apply and OK, and close the "Addressing" window.
    12. In the "Address Book" window.
    In Menu item ->File select ->Close this will close the "Address Book" window.

    You can now try to create a new email and click "To:", and it will now show
    your contacts and distribution lists as expected.
