I have finally made my choice-750 over the Tytn(8525). Naturally, the 8525 is supposed to drop on Cingular next week. Any idea when the Treo 750 is coming to Cingular?

    welcome to Treocentral.

This question comes up almost everyday. A quick search will yeild lots of results.

Short answer is no, it's all speculation. Dates range from two week to Q1 07. My guess is that unless we see it before Thanksgiving it will be next year.

You might as well try the Tytn for 30 days. Who knows, the 750 might come out by then.

Will they let me exchange the tytn for the 750 within the 30 day window?

I couldnt wait...so I finally bought a TyTn (unlocked- w/ front camera). It is AWESOME....sure I do miss the one handed operation of the 650, but I am getting amazing speeds with this phone. as fast as 1200-1500 Kbits/s. Actual average is about 850 kbits/s. Its like having my laptop in my hand.

There are alot of things I miss about the Treo, but this phone is very cool. And for some reason it feels smaller than the Treos.

Yes, Cingular has a 30 day refund policy...they would prefer you exchange rather than refund.

Ok, I think I am going to wait for the 750v on Cingular to make the switch from my Sprint 700wx with not working text messaging. GSM will also be a HUGE plus.

Didn't I read somewhere it may only be 2 weeks or so until cingular releases it? I read the 680 is coming out on November 5th. Anyone think they will come out together?

No, if they were coming out together it should have been in the same presentation. But that's just speculation, I have no inside info.

I have no problem with the Cingular build, if you're referring to the firmware.

If you go into the system settings, click on about, then click on the phone tab in the bottom right, what versions do you get for the software and firmware?

Interesting. Same software version as the Singapore 750v, but newer firmware than either the Singapore or Europe 750v.

I just went across the street and talked to one of the guys at the cingular store and he said that he knew that they were getting a new 3g treo 750 mid next month along with another 3g pda style phone. And when I asked how much the data plans were he told me that right now for a 3g pda phone its 39.99 a month but he was unsure if that would be changing when the new phones came out. Shoot for 40 bucks a month I might have to just cancel my cable and use the 750 for my home internet... maybe not.

This is my first unlocked phone. Do you think we will be able to get ROM updates?

An unlocked phone is the best possible scenario. You have the freedom of applying any carriers ROM update or Palm's OEM update (if available).

Depends, it may be unlocked but technically it's a Vodaphone version. On the Palm OS versions this has been possible although it's sometimes takes work to convince a Cingular version to use the unbranded upgrade, for example. But this is the first WM5 GSM version from Palm so we are in uncharted territory. There is a Cingular ROM floating around that can be put on these phones, but it's clear that the method being used isn't one that would be released in a customer installable ROM upgrade.
