All treos should work out of the box... no fanboi, I would like to see palm do well... but all the treo products I've purchased, I happened to get a "bad unit."

Guess I'll be blasted now for not getting into the loop of replacement units, so be it...

So you've had defective units and nothing less than 100% is acceptable? Be real, no hardware company is like that. I'd like them all to be perfect but it's never going to happen.

But that's different than getting a working unit and claiming it doesn't do what is said. In general, I think Palms out of the do what they say. No more, but they work. It's when you add more you potentially run into problems.

Another mention of the reception issue.

"I found that in my normal office – inside the M25 – I couldn’t get a 3G signal. I got one in various other places, and the same SIM gave me a 3G signal in other Vodafone devices within my office. It is possible, then, that the Treo 750’s antenna is not what it could be. But based on a sample of one device I can’t be sure."

So, some say they get good reception. But, so far the majority of these reviews have mentioned a possible reception issue (no, I'm not talking about the number of bars).

If over and over, a phone such as the Nokia 6010/6030 gets great compliments on its reception, and every so often someone says the phone sucks, we're still going to consider the majority.

So far, the majority are expressing that the 750 may have an issue w/ reception.

We will soon be able to judge for ourselves.
So what's the point in discussing it now?
Why defend the Treo? Why bash the Treo?
    What do we gain?

We gain Awareness of a possible issue.
What makes me anticipate a reception issue?
Past experience, mine and the majority of others.
We have just reason for skepticism (Honda vs Chrysler).

i really don't care about the reviews over in europe because I'm not over there. We really have to wait for it to hit the US carrier (Cingular) before we can say anything for certain.

This is very true. There are different frequencies used in the U.S. than in Europe so the reception could be different.

I'll let you all know tomorrow (package shows delivered at home)!

Can you name a phone out there that meet all of your above criteria?

While we are making our dream phone, let's make it $99 unlocked and without contract too.

Thanks! I've got everything stacked up to go: unlock code, Cingular sim, mini-SD cards, mini-SD wifi card, and bluetooth headphones! It's going to be a long but fun night! Impressions and photos tomorrow.

Don't be stupid... of course a phone with all those qualities does not exist.

Read what I said... not all, but maybe one or two... or something different that I did not list.

If I wanted to go on about dream phones, believe me, I could list some stuff.

The Nokia E61 has all he mentioned. But if he needs a camera, then it's a no go.
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!
