OK. This is getting really silly. Here is a transcript of the email exchange that I have had with ecare.

    Dear Mr. Vidal,

Thank you for your reply and for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you with your text messaging issues.

I can understand your concern with not being able to successfully sent text messages to phones under other service providers through your Treo 700wx. I know that this can be a frustrating experience and I do apologize for any inconvenience it has caused you.

Upon further investigation of this device, there has been no official report within Sprint of it not working properly when attempting to send text messages other service providers. I do apologize for that. I would like to suggest contacting PalmOne, the makers of the Treo, directly to see if they have developed a solution for this or if a report has been made.

I apologize that I could not assist you with this via email. If you have any additional questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me by replying to this email. I will address them for you right away.

Thank you for contacting Sprint. We value your business and I look forward to the opportunity to provide you excellent service now and in the future. Thank you and have a great day!

Thank you for your response, but I beg to differ. There appears to
be a large community of people with a Sprint Treo Wx who are not
capable of sending text messages to people on Verizon or Tmobile.
Since I rely on this for business, I find this unacceptable and would
like to know if there has been a case logged and when the anticipated
resolution will be. If it is not soon, I will respectfully like to
return my device for the full price and will gladly pay for any
service that I have used to date. If there is any question regarding
the issue, see this link :

I am more than glad to supply other links of users with this same issue.

    Thank you

I would like to begin by apologizing for any inconvenience and
frustration that has been caused due to this issue.

At this time no information is found regarding a known issue with
sending text messages to other carries with the new Palm Treo 700w.

In order to determine the problem with your phone and the text
messaging, we may need to perform a few simple tests on it. Please
contact us at 1-888-211-4727 from a phone other than your PCS phone.

When you hear the voice prompts, say ?Wireless Web?. You will be
forwarded to Technical Support where a specialist will be glad to
    assist you.

Question:I have been having a major issue with text messaging. I have
a treo Wx and cannot send text messages to people with other
carriers. I switched from Cingular to Sprint specifically
for this device and if it cannot carry out this simple task,
I will switch to Verizon & expect Sprint to pay all early
termination fees. If this is a known issue, please let me
know the status. A forum of Treo users has acknowledged this
issue on the web. Thank you for your understanding & quick
    response.
    Sorry for the long Post!!

I got same thing.. It's tower issues and will be fixed soon

Tower Issue now? Wow...I going to the Sprint Store again tomorrow...I want them to do something...
  5. #105
Yes, very frustrating. I gave up and filed a complaint with the FCC (link provided on earlier post). I would suggest that everyone do the same until we get resolution to this issue.

I have had Treos forever, and just YESTERDAY upgraded to a Treo700wx. It also seems my text messages do not work. Yeah this sucks cause i send messages all the time. My Treo650 messaging was working perfectly find untill I switched my service to the 700WX lastnight. Even today (the day after) I was installing programs which required verification messages to be sent to me phone. Well I got those, but SO DID MY 650, which is kinda funny cause it no longer has service on it.

Im gonna test it out when i get to work again (tommorrow - friday) People there have different services so im gonna see who gets what and how long it takes. I sent some today to test and i got no replys, so im assuming nobody got my messages. Till then im gonan try and send an email of some kind to palm/sprint jsut to help build up their complaints. THANKS!

Now Sprint is just throwing any excuse. Here's the excuses we've heard so far.

    - There is no issue.
    - This is a known issue with the 700wx. Contact Palm about an upgrade.
    - There is a nation-wide outage.
    - This is a tower issue.
    - This is your fault

Palm hasn't contacted me for a few days, so I'm going to email them back and see how they're coming along. Last I heard, the development team was working on a problem with the 700w, and the 700wx was next in line (this problem).

    no one receives my messages!

    omg....

Ha! This keeps getting better and better. I decided to give Sprint tech support one more try. The person I spoke to said he's been getting many calls in about this, but nobody (in tech support) is being told why its happening. He said I should not have been told to contact Palm, as it's "definitely a problem on our (Sprint's) side." Still no fix, but at least we can ignore the BS that ecare or other tech support is giving us.

Has someone asked for Tier 2 support? I have this issue as well. And I am SURE someone from palm and or Sprint reads this forum so someone please give some feedback as this is an absolute mess.

    This is becoming laughable.

I killed a sprint employee with a trident! "I know Brink I was meaning to tell you’re probably wanted for murder and should seek shelter for a month or two with a relative"

I never received any gurantee or firm confirmation that a fix was coming just the tech's info saying that "Palm was looking into the issue", so basically he was saying I don't know what's wrong and have no idea when it will be fixed. Why does it seem like Sprint does not really have any interest in customer satisfaction?

    Ok,

here's what you (everyone calling *2, CS, ECARE) should do:

    Call this number 866-818-1944

Say please look up national alert: 868191 (hopefully they will do it even though you don't have a trouble ticket opened)

    and then listen....

CS, *2, ECARE won't help you or give you good information...period.

    ----------------------

Basically you should be having problems sending any txt messages to T-MOBILE and VERIZON ONLY. TXT to CINGULAR should work (possible delay) and TXT to SPRINT should work (possible delay).

Sending TXT messages via the e-mail gateways:

    VERIZON: phonenumber@vtext.com
    T-MOBILE: phonenumber@tmomail.net

should work, however, could be delayed or potentially not received.

There is NO ETA on the fix but Sprint is well aware of the issue and its with their highest level of support (SEBU - I think).

While I'm pissed like ya'all that txt stopped working sometime on the 2nd or 3rd of October at least there is somewhat of a workaround (albeit not perfect always).

Okay, this is getting beyond comical:

I called the number above and asked the rep to look up the national alert. So, the guy looks up the alert and says that the alert/ticket has been RESOLVED.

I'm done with this battle...I give up...this is a joke.

    I just called:

    The national service alert (868191):

    is still open.....opened: 10/5

There is no ETA on the fix....most likely Ft. Worth is working on the issue....they have no other details on the issue as Ft. Worth does not actively update service alerts, they just close them when they are resolved.

I'd call again RJMOOSE, you probably got someone who couldn't access the national service alert and just said that it was closed, or they couldn't find it and so they thought it was resolved, which it isn't.

No, the whole problem is that normal txt messages to T-MOBILE and VERIZON probably aren't going through at all.....while e-mail txt messages to the providers e-mail gateways are getting through almost all the time....its a workaround until sprint can address the normal txt message side of things....

I have the feeling its not going to be quick if it has to be a software update to our phones....so hopefully they can figure out a fix on the network side of things until a software update can occur....

This goes down to conflicting information. I was at first told to contact Palm. I have been in touch with Palm Level 2 support on a regular basis and they are looking into it. In fact, the last email I received yesterday states:
We are collating all the data that we need in order for us to work on it immediately. If you can also request the other Treo 700w owners who are experiencing this, they may also email and or call us so we have enough evidence and data that it is an emerging issue. You may also request them to call our technical support at:

    813-313-4913

But as of the moment, there are still investigating on the said issue. They are also doing some tests if they can also replicate the issue. That means more collated data, the faster the development for the fix. We cannot also tell you when is the exact time a patch or a fix will be released. It will just be posted on our website when it is ready for downloading. We cherish our customers concern and rest assured that we are working on this issue. We thank you also for your patience on this issue.
    "They" means Palm's escalation department.

However, when I spoke to Sprint's Treo technical support, he said that it is Sprint's issue and I should have never been told to contact Palm directly. But since Palm is asking for people to contact them, please email or call Palm.
