I disagree. The people we talk to on the phone dont know jack. They just do what they are told. They arent lying, they just dont know any better.

This I can agree with. I asked every person on the phone, this whole time, if they knew about this. They all said either "no," or "while you were on hold someone explained the situation to me." Last night I called Palm tech support, and it sounded like I was on the phone with someone in a different country, and they had zero knowledge of it.

That being said, 40 days without a fix leads me to believe Palm doesn't care. Thats all the evidence I need.

The level 2 tech at sprint told me there suppose to be an update out to fix this before the end of November.

Has anyone thought about going directly to the top of Sprint, I did this once before and had great luck. I have his email address I just dont know about posting it in a forum. I would like to hear everyones feedback.
  9. #649
Maybe posting it isnt the right thing to do, but those of us who would love to send him a professional email would sure love it in a PM. Send it my way!

Well I would post it...if you think about you will be helping Sprint by preventing people from dropping Sprint if they can get some sort of answer explaining the situation and ETF. That's just a thought...I don't think anyone would miss-use an email in this type of forum.

I spent almost two hours on the phone with Sprint this morning. I was actually speaking with a rep. who knew what she was doing. She tried everything to get the message to stop being delivered to my phone (removed text messaging, re-added, soft reset, hard reset, factory restore, re-program) nothing worked.

In the end the only solution was a new phone number.

Well at least I can use my phone again for the time being.

    WOW. Unbelievable...

...until you send another text over 130 characters..or however many the magic number. Or until you send a text in your car with only one window down, or standing on your left foot, or replying to a text from someone whose name starts with "p" or any of the other suspected reasons.

Does anyone know how long these repeat messages get delivered? 72 hours? 7 days?

I had them stop on a 700p after 72 hours and a hard reset. I have another 700p that's going on 4 days and counting...with the hard reset doing nothing.

Can you add a line, then switch the phone #? This way you can keep your phone #, and fwd calls there so you don't have to give all your contacts the new #...

Yeah, there is nothing you can do to your phone to fix the repeated text messages once it gets started. There was nothing they could or I could do to get it to stop for me either.

However, I just got a flood of messages that have been queued up for 3 days. Once (2/2) finally made it through all of the rest followed. So it seems it fixed itself again. I bet Sprint has some cron job that periodically checks for queued up text messages and flushes them through.

Needless to say I won't be sending myself any text messages longer than 130 characters again and I hope nobody else does until they get this fixed.

In my case the issue started when someone SENT me a message over 160 characters, which actually makes the issue even worse since I can't control who send me anything and how large the message is.

My problem started Tuesday at 7 PM. As of 9 AM this morning I had received the same message almost 500 times with no end in sight.

    I've already done the change.

Sick of dealing with the people at regular support, I finally decided to call the Executive Customer Support Team.

    What I learned:

    • That the 700wx is unable to send SMS messages to non-Sprint phones is a known issue (duh).
    • A software patch for the SMS issue is scheduled for release before the end of November

(I also found out that there will be a bluetooth software update as well as a fix for Voice Memo that are sent as attachement but unable to be read on the other end. No timeline on those.)

I wonder if Palm knows they are coming out with a fix by the end of November. I thought I read people saying that Palm was still pointing fingers.

So a little update on what I can and can not do with text messaging on my Treo 700wx.

Send and receive from Cingular - OK.
Send and receive from Sprint - OK.
RECEIVE from T-Mobile - OK. Send to T-Mobile - Fail.
I haven't got the opportunity to try Verizon.
