I think the problem with the 6700 is if they have not done the software update the messages show up this way, but if they have the update they come through just fine.

Aha, good to know. Too bad this particular user might not be able to manage that herself. hm. Odd, though, as it did work fine before this past weekend.

Its actually pretty simple to install download the software from http://www4.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/s...oads/items.jsp and then activesync her phone and it will do everything for her.

The issue with the 6700 not receiving SMS from the 700wx after both installed the Palm messaging app:

    (a) is NOT due to them not having the ROM upgrade
    (b) started the 1st day we all got this program (that is weeks ago)
    (c) only affects messages send to the 6700 from the 700wx
    (d) has to do with either the Palm messaging app or this is an extension of the current SMS/Sprint issue

if we get our "fix" soon for the SMS issue, we can begin to rule out external factors.

I have tested this with people that have the ROM update and they can read my messages, however those that do not cannot but they also do not have the Palm messaging app installed.

I actually hard reset my wx after trying out the threaded sms app. This is a non-hacked WX and (likely) a never updated 6700. And again, I can't say for sure when it stopped working, but texting the 6700 from my WX worked a month ago.

I do not have the PALM messaging and I am having the same issues texting 6700 user with the old ROM but my other friend with the new ROM works just fine.

I do think it has to do with the SMS issue because the problem started about the same time the issue started.

Thats more logical. I would be very surprised if the new app had anything to do with that...

I stopped reading this thread around page 17, so excuse me if I repeat anything, but I just bought my treo 700wx on Nov 1. Text message work to/from Sprint, text messages work FROM Verizon but Verizon doesn't recieve my text messages. Basically what everyone else is saying. I called Sprint....having dealt with the idiots at Comcast Cable before, I immediately told Sprint I wanted to talk to a technicain, as I wasn't satisfied with the answer from customer service rep (no, I never actually talked to a customer rep.....went straight to a tech). He told me the problem was Palm. So, I then emailed Palm, as I couldn't find a phone number for them that made sense. I told Palm the problem, and also told them that the Sprint Tech said it was Palms problem. The Palm rep that wrote back to me did not argue with Sprint about their summation, and explained that the problem was their #1 concern and would be fixed as soon as they could. But couldn't give a promise date.

However, Sprint has a web based text messaging on their website. So, although it's a pain in the ***, for now I can go to the internet and send Verizon owners a text message from that. They receive it on their phones just like any other text message and answer me back like any other text message and I receive it like any other text message...........but, then I have to go to the internet to answer. Like I said, a pain in the ***.............so, I hope Palm gets this update done real quickly. My patience is growing thing already...........even after only 5 days.

I have the new Palm Messaging App installed, when I text someone that has a 6700 with the new rom w/o the Palm Messaging App they can read my messages, when I text someone that has the old ROM w/o the Palm Messaging App they get could not display the contents of this message. I haven't tried it with anyone that has the Palm Messaging App on their phone.

well, instead of going online everytime you want to send a text, send an email from ur phone..

    it would be theirphonenumber@vtext.com

    so, it would read 1234567890@vtext.com

Just an update from me personally. I moved to t-Mobile with the Dash. It is OOOOKKKK, but not a treo. So, turning it back in tomorrow, and already cancelled my account. I am back on the 700WX!! Hopefully, this issue gets fixed very soon...it will make me MUCH HAPPIER!

I called Sprint today, and the gentleman I spoke to (b*tched at) flagged me for a PRL update. I ignored this, and when I dialed *2 to inquire about trading for an 830w, I indeed was flagged. My PRL went from 20223 to 20224. It's 1AM here, I am not texting someone at this time, can anyone tell me if they have this PRL and still have the issue?

Just FYI- PRL certainly has nothing to do with SMS, but this is the closest Sprint gets to over-the-air programming. I think it would be safe to say that if it doesn't do anything than it truly is a Palm issue.

I have PRL 20224 and I still experience the text messaging problem...

I did the above method (theirphonenumber@vtext.com) but sent it as a text (not an email) and it works fine on my girlfriend's verizon phone. I think she has a razr. Funny thing is, I get 2 of the same message (the same thing repeated in the same text) when she replies to me.

I also get the same thing with texting any of my verizon friends. The message is doubled for some reason.

Actually I figured out that every message recieved with this method has a subject (which shows the first several words of the text body) and makes it look like the message is doubled.

well it works and for now, so it'll do (i really don't want to go the web way) until a real fix. I refuse to install that special palm text app for threaded texts because it disables the ability to launch the built in mail app when you trigger an email link from within internet explorer and I REALLY do not wanna give up that feature since I frequently use craigslist and respond to ads.

Well I'm not sure how the threaded sms app relates to this topic since it doesn't fix the sms issue, but just fyi you can launch the built in mail app from an email link in PIE when you have the threaded sms app installed. Anyway, it works for me with the beta4 version.
