I filed a complaint with the BBB. Everyone else should too!

I also provided a link to this thread for them to view the situation.

Wow, so its just as I thought, the end of November......at least it sounds like they have a schedule set which is good....

As of yesterday, I spoke to no less than 5 Sprint Reps who claimed there is no such problem nor were they aware of it.

I may not be in the software industry, but I understand simple customer service:

"Take care of your customers at all reasonable costs"

    End of rant....very very frustrated!!!!!!!!
I'm glad you understand customer service. I do too. Sprint isn't known for good customer service. In many large corporations its hard to get the "right" word out through all available channels. If you call the right people (its in this thread if you search it) you can call a number where they can tell you its a known issue.

    Hey guys,

1st post here, been reading through the forum since i got my treo at the end of october... awesome community.

Anyway, I wanted to add my experience in case anyone cared:

I called Customer Service *2 to complain about the SMS problem. Obviously, they had no clue. So I got forwarded to Tech support, who then forwarded me to Treo Tech Support.

The Treo tech support guy told me that they have received so many support tickets about this that they had elevated the status of the problem to... I think he said a "nationwide alert level" (code red? ). He said this almost never happens and when it does they try to hammer out a fix as soon as possible - and it had been raised to this level for a week now, so he said "very shortly" there should be a fix. But no definitive timeline...

Also I asked about not having to pay for SMS, and he told me my best option would be to wait until it was fixed and then call back and say I didn't have SMS, and they would credit me the full amount for my down time.

Think thats accurate? Or is it some BS to prevent everyone from calling in now and getting credits? I have the unlimited SMS plan so I'm not seeing how it is less efficient to just credit me my months worth now...

Man, ido hope they fix this soon. I've been using the blackberry 8703 and like it a lot - but if I had a choice I think I'd prefer the Treo. I'm supposed to return the 700 wx this weekend. I'm gonna play with the device a little more this weekend and make up my mind. I wish this wasn't an issue.

It was funny - a sprint rep called me last night to follow up on my recent call to customer service, taking a survey to see how I was treated. She had asked for my comments, and I told her that I have 2 words for her - Sprint Sucks! She put that one into her database!

They've called me twice but each time I wasn't available. Maybe because I'm on a corporate plan and are scared that I might spread the bad word about Sprint amongst my "co-workers".

They have called me too about the issue to tell me they are fixing it and for me to have some patience. Happens that I am also under a corporate plan

lol, what updates? This thread is 99.5% b*tching.

From what I can tell, the massive corporate juggernaut that is Sprint is finally moving on this, as they are evidently

    - making calls to corporate accounts
    - techs seem to be aware of the issue (not necessarily CS reps though)
    - Sprint techs mention "update w/in the month"
    - Palm tech mentioned "update soon"

So I'm guessing we will get an update "by the end of the month" which I take to mean anywhere between Monday and 11/30.

Not much else to say on the topic...

i'm just concerned with the quality of update we are going to get now. i mean, ya there's a problem with text messageing but it's not like the email address work around doesn't work.

my concern is that palm/sprint may have been working on givng us a better, more complete update that would give us more of a 750v type os. now that the rush is on with all the complaining, will be lucky to get anything other than just the sms fix. i was really looking forward to the 750 type aku that will work on the wx. bluetooth dialing, real threaded sms (not that hannip and company have done a great job), picture mail (sms), one handed folder option, and all the little bugs worked out. i feel it's unlikely that will get to many updates for a device. good things come to those who wait.

You say that the email address work around works, I still can't send an email to verizon customers at vztext.com they never get it.

Yes if you use the format 000000000@vtext.com where the zero's are the target cell phone number on the vzw network. I noticed you stated vztext.com. Typo?

This works pretty good. (Using the vtext.com) I have been texting some one for the last few days like this.

The only thing is that it comes into their phone as an email, but comes back to yours as a text, strange.

Are you using your outlook email or text messages to send?

Try sending from your SMS, using the 0000000000@vtext.com in the to: part.

The sms/workaround to Verizon certainly works. I did it just the other night via Palm threaded SMS. It was strange since, like mentioned above, it goes out as an email but comes back as a text. Either way,in my threaded app,it looked like a regular SMS convo except for the email header and message body were included (so there was some repetition).

    But hey, it worked.

I'm hoping within a week, but that's just a hunch.

This weekend something new happened - texts to a Sprint 6700 user showed up as "cannot display this message" G R E A T

Yes typo, however they never get my text messages.
