There is the Treo 750 which is GSM, WM5 and 3G (unlike the 680). It has not been released yet in the US, but should be soon. You can buy a 750v now (Vodaphone version), but you will pay a premium.
    Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 700p > Treo 700wx -> Mogul -> Touch Pro
You may like to flash, but your phone shouldn't. LED Killer

yeah...I see some spots I can get a 750v but to pay $700+ for a phone is out of the question for me. That is nuts. $400 is my limit, or whatever I paid for the WX.

Any other devises you can think of that have a good today screen that will tell me my plans/appointments for the day without me having to open up the calender?

This whole situation prompted me to to just switch to the blackberry 8703e may not be for everyone I must say I'm more than pleased!

To be honest, I would seriously consider going to a Blackberry if you don't require many additional programs. They are very well designed & are remarkably stable. I have decide to ask Sprint to switch me to the 8700. if they don't, I'm out. simple as that.

"Since Oct 3, Treo 700WX still wont fully text message outside of Sprint network. This is a sofware issue specific to this device. All Over the country. I have been to sprint store several times and they never know anything abou it. I have also emailed before and was told to remove the battery and hard reset, but that does not fix it. Palm/Sprint need to release a software update. Someone else said they heard it was a Binary/Ascii encoding issue with the WX. I have also called CS*2 and no solution or info was provided. (I called to RE-activate my unlimited vision because it was deactivite without authorization and a credit was issued) Im still trying to find out if I will recieve a credit for the UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGES I pay for, when they do not work!!! Either the messages never goes through, or they person gets them encoded, OR the messages repeat and sends itself 15 times. This is sad because I just upgraded to a Treo700WX for it being the top of the line phone for Sprint but it is nothing but problems. Also I had a headphone jack problem 2 weeks of use and they repleace the phone. Messages still do not work on the new phone either..."
Well they finally got back to me.. and of course no answer, just a request for MORE INFO... seems like their just buying time. I went ahead and wrote them back, again, with the requested info. Here is what they said

"Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel in regard to text messaging
not working outside of Sprint's network and the credit you requested for text
    messaging.

So that I can assist you, would you please send the following information.

To protect your account from unauthorized changes, it is important that we confirm

Are people canning sprint without the ETF because of the 700wx issue?? That's awesome...sheiz, I just renewed my plan last week for 2 more years
  10. #390
I wont "can" Sprint for this. I have been with them for 6 years. In that time, I have seen them go through HORRENDOUS growing pains with the introduction of VISION... The changing of their website which botched up email addresses, and the UNACCEPTABLE customer service issues that are now NOT as unacceptable. And I don't mean asking tech questions. I mean getting your account straight.

So I will stick with them through this also. If there is an issue, like issues in the past, they work them out. I will avoid text messaging in the meantime.

They still have a good network and are consistent. They have EVDO Revision A coming to my market before the end of the year.

By the way.. I also called and complained to retentions about the Text issue.... I now have 500 tect messages for 2 years for free.... because of this issue...

So I would reccomend going that route... God knows youll have issues with another carrier with something else as well....

I have also decided to stick with Sprint. I think their biggest problem here has been a failure to communicate effectively with their reps & their customers about this issue. They have left us to piece it together ourselves - which I think has been a failure on their part. Otherwise customer service has always been responsive & willing to help. Having said that - I've decided to switch bacK to a BlackBerry. It bums me out - but I think that I need reliabilty more than a camera & outside apps. They are sending me a blackberry this week. I guess I'll be back to the blackberryforums for another 2 years!

I too have been having this problem since around October 3-10 time frame. The biggest problem for me aside from T-Mobile users not receiving my Txt messages are the (1/2) messages. My best friend and I both have the 700wx and almost weekly something happens and one of us will get the (1/2) which almost certainly means that something is stuck in the sprint network and we will get the same message over 100+ times before we finally receive the (2/2) and then all other queued messages come through. It's a huge annoyance because it sometimes takes 2-3 days before the duplicates stop coming and you actually start to receive the queued text messages.

Also regarding sending text messages to the email gateways, this is a bad workaround because you have to know what provider everyone you text message is on. If you text message only a few close friends then this works fine, however I have many users which I receive cell phone txt messages from there is no way for me to know what network there on and by the time I receive the txt message it's too late because when I reply they don't receive it.

I can't believe this has been going on for over a month now without any resolution.

Gordo, I feel your pain, and I've run into the same problem this month! Apparently switching to the 700wx made Sprint take away my unlimited vision too. That was a nice surprise when I have an extra $100 tab because of kilobyte usage.

And yeah, the rep I spoke with blamed the outgoing sms problems on the other phone companies. LOL

I completely agree. There is no way for me to keep track of everyone's carrier. Additionally, I need to write down their number and then manually put it in with the correct extension for those that I do know. This is not a satisfactory workaround.

That is very funny! You're right. I'm giving them too much credit. I'm just trying to get over my anger and see through to my happier life with the 8703e. My wife is ready to kill me because all I do is complain about the phone.

I just quit Sprint because their coverage was not good where I live and the text message issue was just to much to put up with. For those who are thinking of leaving, here is the deal I negotiated:

    1) Waived early termination fee
    2) Credited the month I used the service
    3) Allowed me to return my phone outside of the 30 day window

So there you have it. If you are thinking of leaving, this should be what you shoot for. Thier service doesnt work and the phone is defective. They have given no indication of when this will be fixed and the problem is now going on for a month.

I played with the Dash. I set a co-worker up here with Microsoft direct push, so i had a chance to play with it for a bit.

Nice looking phone. Great form factor. But two things would annoy the crap out of me with this phone.

    - T-Mobile EDGE is slow... and they have no immediate plans of going 3G (I live in a 3G market)

    - With a phone like that... no touch screen would drive me nuts

But i have to admit the phone looked cool.

Sprint told me this morning that the phone was manufactured improperly by Palm (with txt message encoding problem) and that they (Palm) are working on the problem. They couldn't give me an ETA and said "it's going to be a while." This I found out after all my data services crapped out for some reason and I had to reprogram the phone. This all sucks.

Imagine how PALM must have felt when Sprint called them and said "uhhhh...we updated our system...there have been some changes...expect phone calls!" LOL
