So I am assuming every one is having this problem? I JUST bought a 700WX and text verizon customers all the time. I wish I would of read this first I would of bought the 700p instead.

Well guys, I only see 2 ways to solve this problem since Sprint is not doing it for us.

1 - Cancel service and buy an unlocked 750V and move to cingular's network (Not sure when it will be released by Cingular). I know that I can cancel my Sprint service by complaining about this problem. (I don't give up until I get my way with them )

2 - Cancel service and buy a Treo 680 on Cingular's network if this problem is not fixed by November 5th, which is the release of the 680 with Cingular.

    Any opinions or other options?

I think it will eventually be fixed. Until then use the email addresses for the carriers.

Problem with both options The 750V is going for $750, and the cell packages are more costly (plus lose evdo).

What about the 680? Will this be reliable on cingular's network? Seems like every WM devise I've had has had problems. I am almost finished.

    Option 3 - Get a 700p from Sprint
    Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 700p > Treo 700wx -> Mogul -> Touch Pro
You may like to flash, but your phone shouldn't. LED Killer

I'm pretty close to being done also. I've talked to eCare and tech assitance too many times. Unfortunately, I can only use a WM device or a blackberry to get email from work. So, I am gonna go back to the 8700 if they will let me. This bums me out, because I gave up an 8700 series on Cingular specfically for this device.

I sent another email to sprint. Here is what i said. -

"Since Oct 3, Treo 700WX still wont fully text message outside of Sprint network. This is a sofware issue specific to this device. All Over the country. I have been to sprint store several times and they never know anything abou it. I have also emailed before and was told to remove the battery and hard reset, but that does not fix it. Palm/Sprint need to release a software update. Someone else said they heard it was a Binary/Ascii encoding issue with the WX. I have also called CS*2 and no solution or info was provided. (I called to RE-activate my unlimited vision because it was deactivite without authorization and a credit was issued) Im still trying to find out if I will recieve a credit for the UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGES I pay for, when they do not work!!! Either the messages never goes through, or they person gets them encoded, OR the messages repeat and sends itself 15 times. This is sad because I just upgraded to a Treo700WX for it being the top of the line phone for Sprint but it is nothing but problems. Also I had a headphone jack problem 2 weeks of use and they repleace the phone. Messages still do not work on the new phone either..."

Well see what they say this time...

Not much is my guess. ecare is worthless (IMHO) for this problem. If you want something done, like your unlimited text messaging for free, call retentions and calmly and politely explain the problem and your frustration. They will likely offer you the text messaging as something to make you happy in the interim before they fix it.

I just sent the FCC report. I doubt it is going to do any good, we'll see

I just sent a FCC complaint also......Don't know if it will do any good though.

Quick slightly on- yet off-topic question.

People using the email workarounds for texts (i.e. 10digitnumber@vtext.com)... Is anyone having success sending to an @vtext.com address using an Exchange host (like smartphone or mail2web)?

The reason I ask is because I've tried 2 different exchange hosts and I simply cannot send emails to the @vtext.com wirelessly--the message gets bounced back. But it works fine if I send it, say, from my desktop or webmail. Just wondering if this is affecting other people too. Not being able to use the workaround makes this SMS problem suck even more than it already does.

Edited: NEVER MIND. I'm an ***** and needed Malatesta to set me straight. I was trying to send it via the actual email side and not through the SMS app itself. Thanks again, Mal.

Even as an email from your exchange server it should still get sent. Do you send other mail through exchange without problems?

Even when I send to the @vtext.com they still never get it.

I just got the 700wx (even though I knew this a problem with SMS). I am thinking it will be fixed too (I hope).

I am a club DJ and I text alot to other DJs I work with (in other bars in my area)... so I hope they get this working.

Yeah, I only have a problem with vtext.com--every other address works fine. It bounces back with an SMTP error from vtext.com. I was told by the Exchange admin at my previous host that it has something to do with the Treo/WM5 adding an extra period or something at the end of the message. I didn't really understand too well due to the slight language barrier (Quebec-based host) but I figured it was just some misconfiguration on their end. But the same thing happens with mail2web. It's just one of those things, I guess.

Totally disapointed in the way this was handled. Plus, I find Sprint coverage to be lacking as compared to Verizon. Through heavy duty complaigning to Sprint, I am leaving with my early term fee waived, the phone is being taken back and I am porting back to Verizon and my xv6700 (i hate that phone). Hopefully, Verizon will have either the 700wx or the 750w by December, as the rumors would suggest.

I am leaving but don't know where to go. I need some help.

I love my WM treo if it worked right, but if I move carriers I want a GSM phone that I can use out of the US. Would it be worth it to go to a Palm based treo 680 or something with cingular, or would a blackberry do pretty much the same thing?

Any other WM treos or the like (i hate the 6700) out there that I can get with TMo, or Cing?

    Thanks.

I would get a 750 on ebay and set it up under cingular. ONLY IF I can use my extended battery in the 750 also. If not I would search for other cingular phones, they have more wm5 phones available than anyone
