I don't want to sound disgruntled, although I will, but am I the only person that doesn't care WHAT the problem is, as long as it gets fixed? LOL

I want to say that this may be a good thing, because it will get palm off their a-ses to do a firmware update (fix the bluetooth issue, this issue, threaded sms, bla bla bla) but knowing palm it will be similar to the treo 650 e911 updater, which was just a one-file download that did nothing else for the phone...

Perhaps... the why is important because it means that they are actually doing something. For awhile there it seemed like the standard run around... its not us, its the other carriers, its palm, its you yada yada.... knowing what the problem actually is allows us to gauge how difficult it will be to fix as well which hints at when resolution will take place.

As far as what other problems they fix at the same time.. I think we are looking at a one-off solution fix this time around, with the others being addressed later. But hell, they may just surprise everyone and roll it up into a effective update.

What's the Bluetooth issue? I haven't experienced any Bluetooth issues.

OLD OLD news (the article is dated October 4) AND Sprint already closed this loophole by offering to keep SMS messaging at 10 cents per message for anyone who was calling in threatening to cancel.

I thought they fixed this for a second. I texted my buddy on Verizon this morning to see what time he wanted to meet & he texted me right back with a response. I couldn't believe it. I was psyched. But then he didn't get my response or the 3 confirmatory texts that I sent after that. I was bummed.

Someone on here state that they knew someone that said that a software update should be out by midweek correct? Hopefully this is true, and we can move on.

    Anyone have any new updates?

what idiots ... look, i mailed them last night at like 12:30 AM here is what i said...

I am STILL having trouble text messaging other carriers. I
recently upgraded my plan to unlimited messages and get a new
Treo 700WX. This is very dissapointing that the same time I
switch is when Sprint starts having problems texting. There
should be evidence on my account that my # of messages has
gone WAY down, since they dont send. My last bill I had 200
+ messages & compare that to my current bill. My question is
will I get some kind of credit on my account for my
unlimited texting I pay for, since I cant currently use it?
Here is a link to a website you can see on their main page
they make a hude deal about it.

    http://www.treocentral.
    com/

Here is a link to the direct thread of other people
    having the same problem.

    http://discussion.treocentral.
    com/showthread.php?t=125673

    that particular chat topic has
448 REPLIES & 13,924 views as of Oct 23. That should speak
for itself. And there are all kinds of theories as to WHY
this is happening and no definate answer as to why or when it
will be fixed. Maybe you could pass this on to someone else
, since im just writing to jump on the wagon and add to the
complaints. Please keep me up to date if possible, Thank You

I also asked about being credited since I'm paying for unlimited text messaging and can't use it with other carriers. The rep I spoke with said that they didn't have an ETA of a fix, but "hopefully sometime next week" this was last Thursday. I was told if it's still happening to call them about getting credited, I plan on calling. Everyone should call and demand credit, this is ridiculous. I am glad my 700p can text outside of Sprint's network, but like I told the Sprint rep most people have 1 phone, rely on text messaging heavily, it needs to be fixed FAST.

Does anybody else have a problem today receiving text messages? I have the 700wx with the threaded app and now I don't receive any text msgs. I can send out and people tell me they receive them. When I send messages to myself they are never received. People from T-Mobile, Cingular, Sprint, and Verizon can't send me msgs. ...no errors, just never receive them.

I just got off the phone with a Sprint Rep who told me that Palm was resposible and was working on a fix for the issue. They said that "when palm started distributing the 700wx they messed up the code." She told me that the update should become available on Palm's website...doubtful...This seriously better get fixed fast...I miss my damn 650... this is bs

I feel like my phone is crippled.

It is crippled, unless the only people you text are Sprint customers it's GREAT Call Sprint and tell them they need to fix this, this is unacceptable. I've called already.
