Sorry Mal, here to stay. LOL

Just got the same canned email response back from Sprint that everyone else has gotten. Oh well. At least they know that we know.

I know there are plenty of responses from Palm posted here, but I haven't seen one yet from Level 2 (if there has been, sorry for posting another). Here's the one I got from Level 2 last night:

It's nice to hear from you. I am <OMITTED> and will be handling your inquiry regarding the threaded feature of the Treo 700wx, unfortunately, the Treo 700wx does not support the threaded feature just like the Treo 650. I know that this is in our website and it is clearly stated there. We have escalated this already to the higher engineering regarding this issue. But as of the moment, once again, the threaded feature is not supported by the Treo 700wx. Hope this has answered your inquiry. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again. You can also find more information about Palm products, including troubleshooting articles and frequently asked questions at
    blah blah blah.

I don't know how much farther this is going to go. This is by far the most direct response I've received.

Well for every email they receive on this matter I'm sure their aware that at least 100 users share the views if the inquirer. That should motivate at least discussion of threaded sms during the ROM engineers coffee breaks

Lets see if this all pays off

    That's funny.

Can the 700P even do that?

In all fairness to the sprint rep - that's likely the way it works with 90% of their phones. It's a shame that few mobile phone customer service reps have a clue that more advanced devices exist. That statement holds true regardless of carrier... and I speak from experience with Cingular, Verizon, and now Sprint.

Oh, and add my name to the list of folks that got a canned reponse from Palm about the lack of threaded messaging. I got the newer one that refers to the 750. In my particular case, I really don't care about the threaded messaging, lack of "picture mail", etc. The 700wx gets my email, the battery lasts all day long, and in the 2 weeks I've had it - I've had ZERO lock ups.

(...and thats pretty good considering I had lock ups every few days with the MotoQ, Verizon's 6700, and the 700w (non-x))

    Any new news lately?

The Treo 700wx was a great device. Especially for one handed use, but it would be hard to give up my Mogul now.

So they mistake IM for SMS, I'm going to assume? That's interesting for a "pro" to make such a mistake!
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

O RLY? Septimus cautiously holds out his chain, hoping it's not going to be yanked. How's you hear that?

D1G1T4L is clearly a h4x0r that has hacked into Palm's upcoming features database.

Treonauts had an article up a few weeks ago on the 750v when they were talking to Palm, and the Palm resp said that the 700w and 700wx would reveice the threaded text app via a software update.

We all know we will get this app.

A few years ago when Palm released updated Palm's with the new PIM apps they did not give a software update to get them, all you had to do was get a hold of the files and transfer them over to your Palm via SD card. So either Palm will give us a download, or we'll just copy the files over, no big deal.

I'm using SMS threader now, and it's constantly being updated. From what it started out as to the latest version is night and day. It's a must have if you miss threaded SMS and it's free.
