I called palm treo tech support at 813 313 4913 twice. the first lady said that it does do threaded text messaging through msn. she said it was through msn's instant messaging that the threaded text messaging works. I said that there is a big difference between instant messaging and text messaging, and that there site sais nothing about msn when talking about threaded text messaging. she was consistent in claiming that was what the site was meaning with its claims. I hung up and called again.

the second lady did a little better by putting me on hold and coming back with saying " no sir, you're right. it doesn't do threading text messaging ". I couldn't belive she put me on hold just to comfirm it didn't work. anyhow we did get a claim in the the higher up techs and to advertisement that this was not a fulfilled feature on the wx that was claimed. I asked for either a .cab file or a firmware up date. I know, that's crazy, but she said she would try to get the file to seen me or find out when the update was coming and if it was going to include this.
I don't know, I think are best luck is just to wait for the xda-hackers to extra the cab out of the 750v. at lease I know that this will happen forsure.

    Nice posts guys.

I think it is important to keep the pressure on Palm so at least they know it IS something we want and want it badly, maybe it'll light the fire under their feet a bit (especially with the "false advertising" part).

Also, pay attention to the language.
    Such As:
"We apologize for the inconvenience this issue may have caused you"
    (italics added)

This type of wording conveys that your issue may, or may-not be a legit 'inconvenience.'

Does anyone have links to the inaccurate advertising? The links from Palm's own webiste have changed.

They are now claiming that the reference was to MSN Chat. That is simply false.

    We need good proof.

    Let's aggregate it here.

You're right -- I am still on the phone so I didn't check.

When the rep told me that is was about MSN, I assumed that it had changed. That is what they are claiming now.

However, this is what I know now.
    • My "issue" was elevated to a Level 3 Tech Support Individual.
    • They will correct the "misleading advertisement"
    • They "may" issue an update containing threaded SMS.
    Wrong priorities.

I was then given the number to Palm's corporate office when I told them this was not an adequate resolution -- (408) 617-7000. I was told to just ask for the "Corporate Office" -- uh, no thanks.

I'm still waiting to see what more I can do.

I sent in an email to support and look at this incredible delay tactic that it took them 24 hours to send. I simply replied with my email and address and asked them if they wanted a blood and urine sample as well.

    Here's my message to Palm:

    Greetings,

According to the features listed on your website prior to my purchase of my Treo 700wx, it stated "Threaded text messages in a single chat view let you keep the conversation going."

I have been unable to find this option of threaded text messaging within the built-in text messaging program. How do I enable this feature? Why is it disabled by default?

    Thank you for your assistance!
Heheh... Can't wait for the response.

First they want me to confirm who I am to answer if they have threaded text. Now i tell them and they tell me to call. Nice job Sprint.

I hope you don't consider this "customer service" because it's nothing more than cheap delay tactics. I asked a simple question relative to feature that is promoted on your website regarding threaded SMS. There is no reason to have to go through this run around to get an answer.

I can tell you the answer and maybe you can save other customers time. Your marketing of this product is IN ERROR. There is no capability to have threaded text messaging. I'm of course giving you the benefit of the doubt assuming it was an error, rather than an intentional act of fraud to encourage purchases of a product with features it can't deliver.

Based on the manipulation I'm being exposed to in this little exchange, perhaps fraud is the more plausible answer and perhaps my States Attorney General ought to be aware of it.

    Anyone want a Treo 700p for $430 ?

So I call palm and they explain to me that threaded sms was taken off the specs sheet of the 750V. I was like okay will there be updater to get the threaded sms like the 750V? She goes sorry no, I was like why not. She goes because the 750V is running Palm OS a little different from the 700P. I argued with her that the 750V is a WM device. Okay spoke to a manager and he said the at most the update will be out in 3 months. He also said that their will be a Palm version of the 750 name unclear and it will be unlocked GSM running and updated Palm OS from what he hears. So yeah. Good news all around.

    Palm's response:

Thank you for contacting Palm Technical Support. My name is Edmund. I understand that you are concerned about the feature of the Treo™ 700wx to support threaded message. You also heard that this is support in the 750v.

We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused you. Threaded messages are not supported in the 700wx. However, this feature is supported in the GSM Windows® units like the 750. In the mean time, I will raise your concern to a higher-level support so that it will be noted and so the website can be corrected. If updates would be available, it would surely be posted on our website.

We want to make sure that your issue is resolved. If you need further assistance, or if you have other concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again. You can also find more information about Palm products, including troubleshooting articles and frequently asked questions at:
