    Excellent! I've been waiting to see what is going to happen on the 700 series. I'm glad to see that Sprint's version at least addressed some of the memory concerns.

    I may go to the dark side yet.

    Here's to hoping the 700wx will help PPCTechs figure out the ram upgrade for the 700w.

    WOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!! 47MB free ram amazing

    I'm sure VZW will release an updated 700w

    Yeah, but I don't want to have to shell out $400 for a new phone. But I'd be willing to pay $100 to upgrade mine.

    Verizon doesn't know anything and Palm just gives you the run around saying that they don't have any information in regards to the Treo 700wx or an upgrade for the Treo 700w.

    I am so pissed.

    I don't know why people are mad at Palm for releasing an update to the 700w. It was originally announced in Sept of '05 didn't ship until Jan '06, Sept. '06 is a good enough time for a refresh. Part of being an early adopter of a first generation device is it's basically an experiment, learn from the mistakes and fix them. I just think Palm did a great job of keeping this under wraps for as long as they did, everyone expected Sprint to get the 700w.

    I'm not mad at Palm for releasing an update. I'm mad that they keep doing the same crap over and over again.

    Palm III ==> Palm IIIx
    Palm V ==> Palm Vx
    Treo 700w ==> Treo 700wx

    They should release the device with sufficient memory in the beginning. I'm expecting a competitive device to be released soon. That is the only reason Palm updates their devices.

    Palm is a company and a company needs to make $$. Palm is famous for "upgrading" their devices with a few things that make people want to upgrade and adding a "x" to the name. The 700w was announced almost a year ago, so it's understandable for an upgrade. Hindsight is 20/20.

    I'm excited for Sprint people. Sure I'm pissed that my 700w didn't get the ram it obviously needed, but this means that I can upgrade in 2 years without feeling all that bummed (Due to a better treo being out)

    The only question is if I want a crystal vaja case for my current 700w or not...

    how do you open a MP4 file?

    Windows Media Player 10 will open the file. You just have to force it to do so. By default it doesn't recognize ".mp4" extensions. Just ignore the dialog box when it complains.

    That's pretty amazing to have that much memory available. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope PPC comes through.

    The reason I am mad is that I paid $700 for this phone and now once again I will have to spend even more money just to get this to work correctly. I am all for testing and experimenting but not when you charge the consumer so much for the phone and then expect the consumer to shell out even more just to fix their mistakes.

    as I've said, it's completely un-excusable for palm to make the 700w, funded in part by verizon for their exclusive, and then turn around and release the better one to sprint. Yes, I'm a sprint fanboy, but this is poor buisness practices by palm. You all need to complain to verizon about it, and verizon needs to do something about it...

    I understand Verizon 700w owners being a little mad, but the Verizon 700w was announced in Sept. of '05, shipped January of '06, and they had the exclusive all this time. New devices will always be coming out with better features/fixes. A year is a long time in technology time, and I am happy that Palm is releasing more Treos than ever before. It's not poor business practice by Palm, they have always taken a device they have and update it a little and slap on a "x" or "2", "3", "5" Tungsten T's all had minor upgrades, but it was enough to make some people want to upgrade. That's your choice to upgrade or not. The minute you buy a computer device it's already outdated, and the 700w was a first of it's kind. I am happy Palm upgraded it so fast. Look at all other cell phone companies, Nokia, Motorola, LG, they do the same things with their models. I understand that the Treo is a more expensive device, but that's technology. I think it's great that Palm is releasing updated Treos this quickly. 700px probably isn't too far away, lol. I'll be a little pissed, but I'd probably upgrade, although the 700wx is also enticing me.

    Shadowmite I am so glad that you're back!!! Welcome back!!! Can't wait to see what you'll be doing.
