    Hi,

A question for the Treo 700 wise ones. I really think a treo 700 is the way to go.(i have not owned one before but I have an old sony clei (palm 4 OS) The problem is that it seems that Palm are saying that they are not comptable with windows XP tablet PC editions. Is this for the 700w aswell ? have I understood this correctly ? as I will soon purchase a tablet as my only computing platform from now on this will be a problem.

Hmmm ...I wonder if my old palm is compatable with XP tablet ????

Oh yeah, will I be able to transfer all my contacts memos etc from the old to new palm OS desktop when I load the new software ?

    thanks for your help,

    pup.

This is completely false. Tablet edition is simply XP with some additions for the digitizer, handwriting and rotating screen. Anything that works on XP will work on Tablet Edition. I currently use a TC1100 with a treo 650 daily. No, palm does not list tablet edition as compatible, but it is. Anyone who tells you something is not compatible with tablet but is compatible with XP has no idea what they are talking about.

Enjoy the combination of a treo and a tablet, you will have the ultimate in mobility.

Thanks Swagner, I really appreciate you taking a moment to clear this up for me. Now I can get what should be a great setup. I am an airline pilot and our company has switched to all electronic manuals, I am trying to get enthused about it, hense the tablet. (still think paper rules even though, maybe, the electronic option will be more environmentally friendly)

Although your first statement is almost correct XP Tablet does have a problem when it comes to certain script based installations. I have got a tablet as well. There is slight problem when installing the Palm desktop to XP Tablet PC Edit, it hangs on installation, but you can get around that easily by CRTL+ALT+DEL, then end process "iDriver.exe". You can find more about the subject

Hmmm...I was just about to say that I ran my 600 and 650 on a Toshiba Tablet PC with no problems for 2 years. It installed without a hitch...but to be aware of any issues these links are probably a good read as a "just in case"...

The standard desktop installed alright, just the devolper pack would hang, I think it is the older version of "desktop" or ones that are script based.

Oooooo. Which tablet did you get? I was thinking of going w/ the T4020D w/ indoor/outdoor screen. I would like to use it in my Cessna 172. Also, could you direct me to the map plates?

No install issues on my HP TC1100 tablet. Puppy, be sure to check the links posted by NRG. TabletPC Buzz is THE site on tablets. There are a number of threads on pilots using tablet PC's. Again, good luck and enjoy your tablet and treo.
