I was one of those who didn't see the new icon USBswitch after the Update...until recently, it just appeared in my program icons.

Can someone explain what the different settings (RNDIS USB vs. Serial Usb) is, and what the correct setting should be????

Plus, is there any way of REMOVING the small icon on the bottom right corner of the screen when it is set to "Serial Usb"???

    thanks

Keep the device set to using RNDIS. This is faster and more feature rich.

USBswitch toggles your Treo between a backward compatible USB mode of ActiveSync and the more feature rich RNDIS connection method.

It is only meant to be used if your local network or PC setup is so restrictive that ActiveSync over RNDIS will never work.
