Maybe this has been discussed before, but I apologize in advance as I can't find it.

Is there a "Start->Run" (as in Windows) for the Treo 700W? From there, can I invoke a Command Prompt (cmd)?

    Thanks!

Just curious. What is it you plan to do with the command prompt?

    1) Go to the home screen, press and hold the ‘action’ key (that’s the middle button of the direction keys).

    2) Tap and hold the clock in the top right.

    3) Release the 'action' key.

    4) Select ‘Run’ from the menu that pop ups.

Also read here for more of what you want regarding command line and scripting.

I didn't get any run prompt following your instructions. I also tried installing PocketCmd and it wouldn't launch. Read that PocketCmd isn't compatible with WM5.

My instructions work on the HTC Universal (WM5) but Palm has so bastardized WM5 in the Treo 700w that I cant say if you are not following the instructions correctly or if it just does not work on the Treo 700w.

I'll repeat it a bit more clearly.

    1) Go to the Today screen

    2) Press and keep in the ‘action’ key (that’s the middle button of the direction keys). Dont let go.

    3) Tap and hold the clock in the top right with your stylus. Dont let go.

    4) Now release the 'action' key.

    5) Select ‘Run’ from the menu that pop ups with our stylus.

    Good luck!

Thanks, all. Yes, unfortunately, the Treo 700W cannot do the instructions that Surur provided (which I've seen before), most likely because of the "bastardazition" that Palm and MS did, Surur suggested. I will try ClarenceCM3's suggestion.

    Thanks again!

Hmm, I installed the .NET framework, but don't see a dos prompt proggy anywhere. I did some searching and see there is a PowerShell a.k.a MSH (Monad) command shell, but there doesn't appear to be a version for ARM processors.

What should I be looking for?

The program Pocket Controller Professional allows me to use a command prompt on my Treo controlled by my PC. I have played with the prompt but haven't found any real use for it (although the program Pocket Controller as a whole is great - I can print stuff, screen captures, and do a lot of housekeeping on the Treo using my regular computer).
