Does anyone know if any console emulators have been made for the treo 700w? It seems like it'd be fast enough to run them.

There are plent of them. Any window mobile emulator would work. Just perform a google search for windows mobile game emulator, or check out any pocket pc software site.

I've tried PocketNester and it works well. I just wish there was some way to program more than one button. You can't program any of the keyboard keys or the phone keys.

I used to use an app called Morph Gear and it was pretty awesome, did all the famous consoles, I don't know if it supports the 700w, its been a long time since I had a PPC but it was great I played everything from Link to the Past for the SNES to Sonic on the Genesis! Check it out, wish I had some more info, its just been to long, do a google for Morph Gear!

My friends first let me introduce myself. My name is Frank I am a Network admin for a mid-west laundry. I just received a treo 700w last week for work and I wanted to see if any nintendo emulators were available. After a ton of searching I found pocketNester. This runs the game flawlessly but uh oh you can only use an A or B button but not both. So my search continued I found this site http://pocketnes.retrogames.com/ on the left hand side there is a emu for pocket pc's. I download ran and installed this to my treo 700w using active sync. I just loaded mike tysons punch out and it runs flawlessly. It also maps the buttons with the keys with ease. Start , select, a, b, up, down, left, right a cinch. I just took down E. Honda ! Hope this helps you guys.

Any reason why the buttons wont work for me? I tried to set them in the options, but when it comes to the game play, they dont work.

Ok first you must make sure that the screen is showing the nintendo controller at the bottom. If it is not you are still in device mode. Tap the screen and it will put you in to software mode. Now I have noticed everytime you exit the program and sign back in that you need to re-map the keys.

Actually let me go step by step. Step Open pokeNES. Step two select open ROM. The game will come up and it will be in software mode. Step 3 tap the screen to go into hardware mode. You will see File . Options About. Tap options > Tap controller

At this point your left, right, up , down should be already set and mapped to your treo's directional pad. If not tap set then press the buttons that you want to map accordingly. For the A button I suggest mapping the period button on the treo to it. For the B button I suggest mapping the enter button on the treo for it. This closely resembles a game boy layout. So next to SET A you should see 0xbe and next to SET B you should see 0x0d. For the Start button I suggest mapping the space bar from the treo to it. You will see SET Start 0x20. For select I suggest using the back button. So now you will see SET Select 0x08. Now press OK at the top right corner with your stylus. This will take you to the game. Tap the game screen with your stylus. This will put you in software mode. You will know you are in software mode because at the bottom of the game the Nintendo controller will be displayed. You are now ready to play your game. If the buttons still do not work then that is a faulty rom. I have ran into two faulty roms. If you would like I can gmail you the following known working roms. Castlevania, Ghost n Goblins, Super Mario 2 and 3, Contra, Kid Icarus, Maniac Mansion, Mike Tyson's punchout, Ikari Warriors, The Karate Kid, Kung FU, and zelda.

Hope this helps all of you out.

works great, however, hopefully we can find one without the big AB buttons and whatnot at the bottom, so we can use the whole (240X240 lol) screen

    thanks man

My pleasure. Of all the emu's for pocket pc's I have seen they all have that little screen at the bottom. I tell you it really makes this phone a hell of a lot more fun when you can just bust out some ghost n goblins on your spare time.... Oh yeah the office stuff is ok too lol

    *****UPDATE*****

You can play this emu with the whole 240x240 screen. Go to options>graphics and select scrolling... it will give you the whole screen... man this is a great EMU !

So could someone give me step by step what version to install, there is (1.0 final beta Pocket PCs), and (Latest Version: 1.0 BE-300 updated! Pocket PCs) so which one do I use? Also do I need to download the arm.,sh3.,or the mips. Along with that could someone tell me where to place it on my 700 in the file directory , or if I run it from my pc I am at work so I cannot look to see what kind of file it is. Drections would be helpful in anyway possible, so my last question is where do I place the rom games once I have the program loaded and where do I find them with the proper file extension for these to work on this program.

no problem. When you go to that link you want the latest version for pocket pc's. When you click it the link will prompt you to download pocketnes0100.exe. Download that to your pc and then execute the program. The next time you perform and active sync it will say that the program is being uploaded to your phone. Then look at your phone and accept the download. Once that is complete you will have the Emulator on your phone. As for where you put the roms. I created a folder called NES ROMs on my storage card and I place them there. You can place them anywhere in anyfolder sans systems folders. The emu will find them. You won't have to worry about file extension the EMU is pretty clever and searches for all NES Rom's on your device. As for how to run the games and map your keys see post above.

i have searched Hi and Low and this is the best I can find. I consider it a minor annoyance as it is the only one that actually works this well with WM5

Glad everyone enjoys it.... so what games do you all like to play on your free time ?

I am up to Tyson in Punchout ( I forgot how tough he was )

I am also on level 3 in Ghosts N Goblins....

Is there a way to go back to a game if you have to stop? I have tried save mode but I find where to pull them up from, but when I try it says invalid file. Is there something else I should do?
