Just checking to see if I'm doing this right. My email provider (Bellsouth) doesn't let you relay outgoing emails from outside their network. Ok, no big deal since Verizon seems to provide their own outgoing server given that most ISPs do the same. Here's a link to how to set it up from Verizon's FAQ:

    http://dts.vzw.com/faqs/VZAccess/mok.html?grp=2&faq=7

I've setup the account on the vtext site but I get an error when I Send/Receive on the 700 with a test message in my outbox (note, the account worked just fine before when I was just receiving and hadn't setup the outgoing settings or created a message to send). The linked FAQ mentions that it may take 12 hours for the account to be usable on the outgoing SMTP server. Have other folks found this to be true? I'm just wondering if the error is due to the delay or if I did something wrong. I've checked the settings and username/password a few times just to be sure but I figured I'd ask here.

Here is another source of the same information if you need confirmation:

Thanks for the follow-up. For whatever reason, the delay was actually more than 36 hours before the vtext account I created was recognized by the vzwmail outgoing SMTP server. So, I guess there are some exceptions where it takes longer than the time stated in Verizon's FAQ. It's working just fine now.
