    a. By keeping my Pre- on sprint I avoid adding the $10 4g premium to my bill
    b. Since I can get a replacement pre- for well under the $100 assurion replacement charge, I dropped my insurance and saved $9 a month

$69 dollars a month for an unlimited data phone plan seems pretty nice comparatively

And with freetether the pre in my pcket keeps my Touchpad online

Pre minus, the cost effective choice in the smartphone market

Get a Pre2 or Pre Plus and FrankenPre it. Same costs month over month and more performance.

Just curious... can you get a replacement pre- for less than FREE? Because that's how much a replacement would cost you if you kept the insurance

assurion charges a $100 replacement fee to use the insurance
when my pre- crack from the usb door spread to the screen and i got it replaced back in march it was a $100 for them to send me a refurbed unit. used "like new" pre- go for around $50 on craigslist

yeah, if i need a replacement in a way that leaves the comm board intact I'll most likely try a frankenpre when replacement time comes.

March? Sprint stopped charging a TEP deductible as of Nov 1, 2010.

Ok, after clicking thru a few links on the site you referenced, here's the way it works...

Sprint offers 3 different insurance options
    1. Equipment Replacement Program (ERP)
      http://shop.sprint.com/global/pdf/services_solutions/brochure_tep_erp.pdf
      Cost is $5/month
Replacement carries a deductible of $50 or $100 depending on the device
    2. Equipment Service & Repair Program (ESRP)
      http://shop.sprint.com/global/pdf/services_solutions/brochure_tep_esrp.pdf
      Cost is $4.00/month
Repair or replacement carries NO deductible
    3. Total Equipment Protection (TEP)
      Services
      Cost is $8/month
      Combines ERP & ESRP together
