Lightbulb GPS without Data?

Ok, so I recently had my Palm Pre deactivated, but I still enjoy using it... however, I'd like to take advantage of the GPS. I know I can get my coordinates with ##GPS#, but is there anyway to download the maps from wifi, but then travel and use it like an actual GPS? For example, Google Maps without data?

Please bear with me, I'm a bit of a noob...
Thank you anyways!

I don't think that Google will work offline,
but with Maptool or MaptoolPro you can use offline maps.
and enjoy Your GPS.

tether it to your current phone to get an internet connection.

I'd love to use my Pre's GPS and tether it to a Touchpad for large screen GPS options. Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm guessing tethering for WIFI works, so GPS is also possible, but then iPads also have this problem and how do they over come it. Thanks, Sorli...
