    He took out the battery immediately and dried it in a warm oven and then in a bowl of rice. After a couple of days, it is working fine!

    it was going crazy for a while, though, opening apps on its own like crazy. But after another day of drying out, it was fine!

    Just be aware that the phone while it may work perfectly is now marked for life with a moisture sensor that has been exposed to moisture. You will not be able to get it replaced under warranty at this point should this need to occur.

    I once completely submerged my Sanyo SCP-8100 at the Kentucky Derby. But that's another story. Anyway, I sealed it in a zip-loc bag with some desiccant packets (silica gel) that you sometimes get when you buy shoes or electronics, and it dried up in less than a day and worked fine afterwards. That's what those packets that say "do not eat" on them are for--to absorb moisture.
    Touchscreens are a fad.
