I have two palm pre's lying around here.
    PRE1 has speaker problems
    PRE2 has no problems

I swapped PRE2's main communication board into the PRE1's board. You know what happened? All of the speakers of PRE1 started to work. This is weird. I thought it was a faulty speaker but the problem seems like on the commboard.

Did Pre #2's speakers also stop working at that point?

Yes exactly! PRE2 has speaker problems now.

You can also easily switch out speakers between devices. When I FrankenPre2'd my device, I swapped out the old speaker with the new for good measure.

Before that I had ordered new speakers for PRE1 but it didn't worked.
I changed the commboard and works now.

Diagnosing faulty parts with the Pre is a *****.
I did 20 reassemblies yesterday and 3 out of 4 earpieces seemed faulty.
Did 20 today and 2 seem fine now. Plain weird.

Servicing this phone does not seem very easy.
A little update. After the commboard swap, I tried to install webdoctor 1.4.5 for PRE2.
It goes well and now both of the phone speakers are working.
    I hate those haphazard works.

Take them apart again and I assure you one of them will be messed up again after reassembly.

No way to back this up, but I noticed a non-responsive touchscreen can even be caused by a buggy keyboard.
