Sprint pre with 2.1 syncing public folders??

Given, kinda a cool feature, but you can't turn it off?!? I'm the sysadmin for my company, and I am still phasing out public folders in our exchange environment. The developers, over years and years, have put over 25,000 tasks, and 3,500 contacts in there. I had 285 contacts in my account on 1.4.5. Now, I have over 3700.... It yanked EVERY contact in all of my company's public folders. I had to disable task sync, because it was causing the phone to crash(the devs update about 30-70 tasks/hr in public folders).

Anyone know how to stop 2.1 from going into your public folders???
