It's a family account with 5 lines. Never was individual. We do get the 15% discount for my working in a nonprofit.

Ok, so I updated my wife's PRL and it shows 01115. She is still on 1.4.5. Keep in mind my PRL updated to 1115, w/o the 0 in front.

Sprint PRL Update - WebOS Internals

    Thanks.

    And not TOO confusing...

I've been with Sprint since 2006. Individual $69 plan since the Pre released in 2009. Switched to a 2 line unlimited data 1500 plan about 7 months ago. With the new tiers I'm Silver and get a 15% discount. My Pre line reached 23 months this April. On either April 24 or 25 PRL 01115 was pushed to my Pre automaticaly.
I haven't checked my wife's EVO to see which PRL it has but I can if needed.

Here are instructions for manually updating the PRL from the command line: (Works on both 1.4.5 or 2.1)

Some of us cannot update the PRL through normal means, so this works regardless of your situation.

    1. Make sure you have a fully charged battery. (Damage could Result if not)
    2. Unzip the attached 01115.prl.zip file.
    3. Copy the 01115.prl.tar file to /media/internal (attach phone as USB drive and simply copy it over)
    4. As root execute this command: PmModemUpdater < /media/internal/01115.prl.tar -m
    5. You will see a bunch of output from PmModemUpdater. (see below)
    6. Wait for modem/radio reset (Bars will go away then return after a few secs)
    7. Verify PRL is 01115 in "Device Info" under the "More Info" button.
    8. Enjoy!

    Code:
    root@palm-webos-device:/# PmModemUpdater < /media/internal/01115.prl.tar -m

You do realize this post will get deleted, right?

Also, Sprint is giving out different PRL's for different situations. You may completely flag and hose someone's account for "telling" people to use 01115 (we don't know why the difference yet - but it seems important enough to Sprint for there to be one because there are different ones). Some are getting 60678.

My Sprint contact told me 60678 gives better coverage than 01115, his phone was updated to 60678 and we're in the same area.

Does any of this apply to you?

    BatonRougeBroadband.Info - Home

    Specifically:

    http://www.batonrougebroadband.info/...0677_60678.txt

    and

    http://www.batonrougebroadband.info/Sprint_01115.txt

It looks like 60678 was just a couple minor adjustments for a couple "small" (on a national scale) areas. Chances are good they don't even really even apply. 01115 is a MASSIVE change in the way roaming is handled from the looks of it for most of the US and Canada.

    Hi Xanadu,

Thanks for the Wiki. This post shouldn't be deleted, as it doesn't contain any copyrighted info. (to my knowledge)

I'm not telling anyone to do anything, as always in the forums, YMMV.

I'd love to know the difference between 60678 and 01115. Other Pre's in this area got 01115, so I figured it's safe for me.

Here are the details copied from the XDA forum. hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056648

Here is the lehman terms about the PRL's. People who are on individual accounts will be receiving PRL 60678. It will not have 3G Data Roaming enabled.

Business and corperate accounts will be receiving custom PRL 1115, which does enable 3G Data Roaming in the six states listed below.

For all the details please read the attached files. You didn't get these from me

National & Custom PRLs Available for FL, MI, OH, WVA, & WI

Sprint has released Custom PRL 1115 and National PRL ending xxx78 that will impact subscribers who roam in these states.

Custom EVDO PRL 1115 – Provides Business IL and CL subscribers with continued 3G/Mobile Broadband roaming services.
Consumer accounts in these states will experience a loss of 3G/Mobile Broadband roaming services. Refer to PRL Newsflash (xxx78).
Delivery of this Custom PRL is dependent on eligible Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Phones/PDAs and Mobile Broadband devices.
Devices not eligible to receive the Custom PRL will receive the National PRL and won’t have 3G/Mobile Broadband roaming in these areas.
National PRLs (10078/50578, 20278/60678 and 60778) - Removes 3G/Mobile Broadband roaming coverage for all consumer accounts with push capable phones/PDAs and Mobile Broadband devices.
This coverage was previously enabled with PRL xxx77 and is now being removed since it didn’t provide the expected on-network capacity relief.
In an effort to strike the right balance between customer experience and roaming cost of service, the 3G roaming coverage will no longer be available for consumers but available to Business customers via Custom PRL 1115.
Consumers receiving these National PRLs will still have 1xRTT data roaming service available in the impacted states.
Sprint will begin proactively pushing the PRL to subscribers with in these locations first, then to the entire base. Subscribers with Mobile Broadband devices have to accept the PRL update prompt via SMARTview to receive this release.

(Sorry, I'm just now seeing this)

The only reason I mention the possible deletion is because of posting the actual PRL. While I don't know the actual legality(ies) behind the PRL file in and of itself, posting it does imply that non-Sprint customers can get it which, since we pay for that file to be given to us (essentially...), can be seen as piracy - depending on how a person with the "Delete Post" button looks at it. That's all.

For anyone coming from a verizon pre 2 to sprint you can just use the doctor for verizon and there is no need for all the hacking, just the physical swapping of the boards. You would be going back to 2.0 and losing Exhibition mode, but it is less hassle and still gives you something to look forward too!
  16. #336
I can't get the file to open. So I it won't work for me it just says the file is not a zip file. Tryed 7zip and it didn't work. Any ideas?

Edit: I found the prl file on a different website and tarred the file myself and ran the directions above that pEEF posted and now my phone has the 1115prl and i get a better singal for some reason it may just seem that way but anyway that method does work for anyone who wants to know. But his zip file he posted didn't work for me I had to find on on my own.

Looks like i'm updated to the latest 1115. PRL button is displayed and it updates on command....had to doctor back to 1.4.5 and then return back to 2.1 to make this happen. Thanks for everyones input in this thread. Without it, wouldn't have been possible for me as I'm not too savvy with stuff like this.

Found what I needed. Over the weekend, I doctored down to 1.4.5 and did the needful. Then back to 2.1 and applied everything. Been a Sprint customer between 8-9 years. Not sure if that's the difference between some people getting the 60### PRLs and the 1115 PRL. Now I've got PRL 1115, and a working PRL update function in the phone prefs.

I used this method here. The file he had posted didn't work, I go the file from another location. The file I used came off of a htc touch pro 2. I tarred the file up and ran it as was directed in this post and now my prl is 1115. My phoen number is still registered to my phone nothing changed except my prl, I restarted my phone numerous times and it stays updated and have had no problems at all. Just watned to say that this is another viable option to use for updating prl. If anyone wants the file I might be willing to help them out with it. Hope this helps some people.
