I'm keeping my expectations low. I'm thinking like $50 or $100 credit to use toward the purchase of a new HP phone, but don't expect anything that would allow me to purchase without affecting my current upgrade date.

[QUOTE=deesugar;2862070]A Pre 2 ----> Pre 3 plan needs to be worked out. My plan is free Pre 2 and I'll pay for a carrier subsidized Pre 3. This would only be good for current customers of course.QUOTE]

    THIS is a great idea.

Giving a free Pre 2 (you know they are not going to be able to sell them with the Pre 3 just around the corner) is a good idea. Or a very heavy discount on the Pre 3 or Veer.

    - Break out of my 3 year contract (I'm only 1 year into it) while maintaining or increasing my monthly discount offered by Bell
    - Free on contract (less than 3 years, I'm sure HP can force them to do so) or heavily discounted no-contract device pricing
    - Trade in upgrade for my Touchstone docks to a v2 unit
    - Promise me PROPER warranty support, either improved support or support directly from HP Canada. My last warranty call was ridiculous, even charged me $35 just to file the warranty claim, then come back to say there's nothing wrong with the phone and tried to charge another $65, even when the sales rep clearly saw the issue. This is the first time ever in my life hearing something like that.
    - Jon Rubinstein to come to me personally so I can kick him in the nuts

That's all I can think of so far, what do YOU want?
I want a free pre 3 with free service and a free tech support specialist to move into my house... I hope you are not serious about some of these.

How about releasing QuickOffice for WebOS 1.4x users? We've been promised document editing "in the coming months" since launch day. Step 1 in "making things right" is following through on all the old promises that are collecting dust.

Frankly, I'm not particularly interested in hardware upgrade discounts. My Pre- is still in pretty good shape, and I'm not going for anything that requires me to change my contract. (I'm on Sprint with a legacy SERO plan. Bought my Pre on eBay.) I'm mostly happy with how my phone works currently, now that I've patched it to the hilt. If they released a WebOSDoctor2 for the Pre tomorrow, I'd take it, but I might wait till I was sure that most of the patches I love would still work or equivalents are available. The problem is that they've ****ed off so many developers at this point.

And icing on the cake would be a Netflix app.

I WANT acknowledgement of the debaucle; SERIOUS thought given to DEPENDABLE hardware in the future; an announcement of products ONLY when they are going to be available in stores THIS WEEK, and IF (instead) you make an announcement MONTHS in advance, I want to know whether MY carrier is going to be offering the "spectacular new toy" that is being paraded across the stage. I WANT to KNOW whether to grab an EVO and be done with HP, or is there a REASONABLE reason to hold out hope...

    We all want something...
    LOL

i think it would be reasonable if they either:
    - gave us each a free veer.
    - gave us the pre2 for $50-$100 without signing a new contract.
    - allow us to purchase the pre3 4 months before its released.
    or
    - gave us some way to get webOS2.x on our existing phones.

What new HP phones? I'm not digging the Sprint Pixi-. If my Pre- dies I'm off to Craigslist while I wait for unicorns on Sprint.

offer a pre 3 at $200-300 off-contract for users that currrently have an older device. (similar to the developer program, except upto 50 dollars more expensive since its a nicer phone.)

it i'll be fair, and cover costs. DON't make me renew my contract.

Either a Pre 2 or Veer for free, I would say. Veer is smaller but more powerful, but Pre 2 is larger but less powerful. So equal in value.

    Or $250 for a Pre 3.
Palm IIIc -> Sony CLIÉ T650C -> Sony TJ-37 -> Palm TX -> Palm Centro -> Palm Pre Bell -> Palm Pre Plus Bell/Verizon Hybrid -> HP Veer -> HP Pre 3 NA -> BlackBerry Classic -> BlackBerry Priv

It's a Late Goodbye, such a Late Goodbye.

Point out to me how some of my stuff is outrageous rather than saying something vague like
    that?

Besides I'm not suggesting HP will be doing that. But more like what can they do to make us feel better, to each of their own.

So about Touchstones...being that the new phone touchstones look about the same, shouldnt the older Palm branded ones just work the same? Or did they change something? My understanding is the phone touchstone is the same, and only the Tablet has to use a different v2.

Nokia (red phone) --> Denso TouchPoint TP2200 --> Samsung SPH-N400 --> (Palm VII) --> Sanyo 5150 --> Palm Treo 650 --> Palm Pre --> Sprint FrankenPre 2 --> (HP TouchPad)/(HP Pre 3 - Wifi) --> Galaxy Nexus (with TS mod and hopes of Open webOS!)

Tablet one charges at a higher power, and both new ones has some kind of location awareness I think.

Nope - some of us have unlocked phones that aren't subject to a carrier contract.

Anything HP do has to cater for us as well and $100 just won't cut it when a new unlocked Pre2 at UK prices equates to around $650 US.

I would love for that to happen, but do you really think of that as a possibility? I am thinking of terms that HP can operate within because I am going to assume that the carriers just don't care.

Well I'm sure it could apply to just apply to trading it in through HP's website possibly.
