I've had my pre for about a year and a half now and I love it. The stock battery has been acceptable and I could easily last a whole day with it. Recently, however the battery has been acting wonky. I have been losing about 10-15% an hour just idling, even with airplane mode on. I doctored to try fixing it and it fixed it for a day, then the battery problems came again. So now I'm confused and was wondering whether any of you had this problem and if there was a fix for it.

btw, Dr. Battery reports my battery health as 90%, so that's not the problem. Also, govnah says that the battery current is somewhere between 600-850 mA which doesn't seem normal

    Just to make sure:
Did you calibrate the battery? After 1 1/2 year the health will not be accurate anymore.

EDIT: Sorry just reread your post:
No 600-850mA is way to much. There is something wrong.
Can you run "top" from linux console/shell?
  3.    #3
I just did that and a list of stuff came up. Is there anything I should be looking for?

What is the top most entry.
The CPU value and the COMMAND
    Code:

It is LunaSysMgr (command) and the cpu% is 13.1.
  6.    #6
And the cpu% just jumped to 30.9...
  7. #7
Then (I think) it's an webOS app using SDK.
Not easy to find the app. But 13% (even 30%) doesn't sound like a battery drain of > 600 mA.
Do you have keyboss installed? I've read there may be an issue with it.
  8.    #8
Yeah. I"ll uninstall keyboss and see if that fixes it.
  9. #9
    I don't use it, I only read about a possible problem http://forums.precentral.net/webos-i...ml#post2819991
You may ask this in the thread above.
  10. #10
Interesting. Is there anything besides keyboss that would do that to the battery?

    Activecard?
  11. #11
I didn't say it is keyboss.
I was just wondering why 30% processor time can drain 600-800mA.
Can you run top again and look at the idle time
    Code:

To get this screen, are you running terminal mode and the "top" command?
    Pilot 5K->Palm IIIc->Tungsten T/T2->Treo 650/680 -> Pre+ (1.4.5 & Uberkernel)

I use ssh from mac, but you can get a similar experience with novaterm.
    And yes it's "top".
Because of my age I can't read the tiny output from terminal, terminus or the great new "secure shell" on device;-)

Thanks somline. Keyboss was the problem and now I'm back to my normal battery life
