I currently sync my desktop outlook via pocketmirror and a corporate exchange server also.

By mistake, my new contact default was set to "palm profile" for a while so all my new contacts went to the previously empty Palm profile!

I want to identify these and now add them to my outlook sync which has 100's of contacts.

I can click on palm profile in contacts and it tells me how many contacts I have there. But unlike calendar, you can't tell contacts to JUST display the palm profile contacts.

So how can I tell what contacts are saved in my palm profile???

    Thanks for any help,

    BJB

I'm not sure, because I never have that many contacts, but wouldn't just changing your default profile to the other, then resyncing, add the new ones?

when looking at the contact, there will be an icon in the upper right corner. Tap it and it will expand to indicate the account

ps, changing the default only effects new contacts.

The only way I am aware of is to tap on each contact name in the contact app and when the edit button is on the bottom, tap the contact name and a drop down will pop out and show you which profile(s) that contact exist(s) in.

EDIT: My internet connection dropped while I was trying to say that Cantaffordit got in while I was typing... so... what he said!

That's what I was afraid of......going into hundreds of contacts..
O well, thanks. The only other thought is compare a list of contacts from outlook vs. on the Pre.

Yes, changing the default does only impact future new contact adds.

you typed hundreds of contacts into a phone on that little keyboard?

there is a patch you can apply and email contacts to yourself as a ,csv file.

you can open it it excel, pull out the contacts you need and import them into outlook.

I'm sure it did, he no longer wishes to speak with me. LOL

And no, that doesn't bother me at all.

I think my ex-husband said it best, he made the comment one day: OMG! You can walk away from anything, anywhere and almost anyone and not bat an eye!

LOL...thanks, but no. Most typed in outlook and live on an exchange server and a PST.

Thanks for the tip on the patch.

Well...I have no issue with the contacts in exchange and synced and displayed on my Pre.
I have no issue with the contacts in my PC outlook .PST synced and displayed on my Pre.

I am trying to find the contacts that were mistakenly setup on neither of the above and therefore exist only in my Palm profile and are:
    1) Buried in my Pre among the 100's of contacts from my other 2 sources.
    2) In the Palm cloud where I cannot see them

So....for these contacts when I am on my desktop, I cannot view these contacts.

So...I want to find the contacts that are just in my palm pre profile so that I can copy the data into outlook, and then delete in the profile.

Also, when I eventually move away from the Pre, I have all my contacts in outlook. A little more universal.

I am just manually going through the Pre contacts and locating them.

This is easy... Remove all the contacts accounts except the Palm Profile. Then send all contacts to email, import them into outlook.

Then delete all contacts in the profile and do a manual profile backup. Then add back the contacts accounts you want.

You know, being as I am close to and trust very few people, which means I have a very, very short list of contacts, it seems my life is a lot easier.

    Don't manually go through them.

    • Remove the Exchange account (and any other accounts) on your Pre. All that will be left is the contacts that are in the Palm Profile.
    • Make note of them.
    • Export them (with the previously mentioned patch) if you wish
    • Delete them if you wish
    • Add the Exchange (and any other accounts) back
