Default Screen indicates a lot of fawlty successive screenactivity - Not ME!??

I have the German O2 Pre. I have used it for approx a year now. But yesturday the screen self-activates and indicates a lot of successive presses of the screen and gesture area (like if I touch the screen and get the feedback of a blink from the part of the screen that was touched). But the problem is that I am not touching neither screen nor touch-area below. It takes place both in a normally tempered room and in the cold of winter outside (where I usually have great dificulties manipulating my screen). I have sat and watched hundreds of screen-presses take place all by itself...

Sometimes this happens during text-writing or other manipulation of any app. Especially fristrating during calendar operations, because the successive presses can open my calendar items and change all settings of them... Happened with a recurring scheduled event last night so I got a wake-up call at 2 AM!!!

Any idea what is happening and have anyone else seen this behavior?

Are you using a touchstone charger?

No - only normal charge cable.

Hmmm. I've started seeing this problem more and more in these forums. In my experience with the phones I've been using and working on, it seemed to be a voltage issue related to the digitizer, but it could be an over-all bad batch of digitizers that were produced. I don't think it is a processor issue. I would say your best bet would be to take it back and see if you can get a new one. You could also call Palm and try for a replacement. Doctoring the phone does not seem to help. I did get some results increasing the voltage within Govnah on the current phone I'm using. It was almost unusable until then.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but this issues has happened quite a bit, and I haven't seen anything near an answer to why, nor have there been any sure-fire solutions.

Default Another Thread, same issues

Hi,

find here another thread, where exactly this issue is discussed:

http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pr...ng-itself.html

Short: maybe a hardware problem of the touchscreen, get warranty exchange.

Please read the thread, I'm not shure of all details.

Regards Ralf
