So I just replaced my wife’s pre plus for the fourth time. After the second replacement I could no longer install “free music ringtone” because it was no longer available. Instead I installed pRingtones. Well it seems that this app is not available any longer either (I can’t find it in the app catalog, or in preware). So, does anyone have a good suggestion to put ringtones on the phone? Preferably for free.

    Thanks

do you have preware? I think the free ringtones app was taken over by another dev.

you can copy mp3 files to your phone for free. I use the iTunes Search app to download clips to use for tones.

there is also a forum on crackberry.com with lots of free ringtones.

There are also several sites where you can download ringtones from, some even directly to your phone. Like these for example:
Free ringtones, themes, wallpapers, mobile games for mobile phone - mobile9

I use www.myxer.com. It involves using the computer with the Pre, but it's free.

General question regarding default ringtones. In the interest of cleaning and freeing up space, I recently performed the 'Erase USB' operation. I saved all of my personal data beforehand, but not the ringtones. I was thinking that they were a default component of the phone and would remain after the erase. They did not. Does anyone know where I can download the default ringtone folder? (not the louder versions) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good advice. My hindsight is usually 20/20. But, nonetheless, I am looking for a way to obtain the originals from somewhere.

They will be inside of the WebOS Dr .jar file. You just need to know how to get into it and find them. Don't ask me how, I don't know. There are many who have for various reasons, I have seen it here on the forums so... Google it.
Clicking the Thanks button is a great way to say... well THANKS
