I'm sure this subject has been addressed here before, but search doesn't seem to be working at all for me. I just get a blank screen when I try to use the search function.

Does anyone know whether I will still be able to view the data on my deactivated Pre if I switch to a Pre 2 and all the data doesn't automagically get restored?

Yes, as long as you are in airplane mode to keep the device from connecting to a data source and backing up.

Thanks! So it sounds like before deativating I should do one last backup then turn off automatic backups.

Why do you have to keep it from a data source? I would like to use my soon to be deactivated pre- to surf on around the house as well as play'n all the games i have on it.

just turn off data usage and you should be able to use your palm profile still but you will have to have wifi connection to do so , thats it .

You should be able to just mount the phone as USB and download all your files (music, photos, etc.)
