    from wikipedia:

Web browserThe webOS web browser, simply named "Web," is WebKit-based and, thus, pages render similarly to other WebKit-based browsers such as Apple's Safari, Google Chrome and Android browsers. The browser can be viewed in either landscape or portrait orientation, switched by rotating the device. Specific features of the web browser include the ability to play .pls file types without the need for an additional application.

Here ya go, he ain't lyin':

    Your user-agent: Mozilla/5.0 (webOS/1.4.5; U; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/1.0 Safari/532.2 Pre/1.0

    It's probably falling under Safari.

That somebody was lying about this never crossed my mind..

You might be correct there, it's probably falling under Safari 532.2

Can I possibly change browser in any way when I use my Pre?

somewhere around here is an explanation of where that text resides. but, you can also look at the iphone browser spoof that jason put into quickinstall and probably see what that does.

why do you want to do that?

Doesn't anyone know if this is feasible then? I'd like to change browser every now and then precisely like I do with my own PC. Wanted to download Opera (Opera Mini & Opera Mobile browsers) but doesn't work.

currently you can't. Someone is also working on a firefox port. Opera hasn't done a webos version. I wish they would.
