    Computer > Add a network location > \\192.168.86.233/media/internal

    No?

No, while the IP address will show on the network, the media/internal volume is not marked for sharing (for obvious security).

If you connected the Pre to a Windows machine and mount the USB drive you can share the drive like normal however.

    This sounds promising...

What I want to do is, be able to see //media/internal and map it on the network. Then I can use SyncToy to keep everything I want synced....

If I can gain FTP access, why can't I map it, then use SyncToy?

You can generate that with OpenSSH.

    Code:
    mv /home/root/.ssh/id_rsa.pub /home/root/.ssh/authorized_keys
    cp /home/root/.ssh/id_rsa /media/internal/id_rsa
Isn't id_rsa.pub created with that first command? mv /home/root/.ssh/id_rsa.pub?

I have next to 0 Linux experience..

    Generating public/private rsa key pair.
Enter file in which to save the key (/home/b/.ssh/id_rsa):
Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase):
    Enter same passphrase again:
Your identification has been saved in /home/b/.ssh/id_rsa.
Your public key has been saved in /home/b/.ssh/id_rsa.pub.

I replace 'b' with 'root', but I get permission denied when I try the first command

I dont understand why they just cant share /media/internals with Samba.

I mean just have a secure network login thats the same as your palm profile.

I would LOVE to be able to share my Pre over wifi with Samba.

Samba's not exactly a light server. And constantly having a server running like that means taxing on battery life and memory.

Using NetDrive, even though the user name should be root and a blank password, I keep getting authentication errors

    Can anyone try this?
