    I want to keep apps in memory, but still see the homescreen/wallpaper
    kinda like you can do on Android. (you just press the home button and you return to the homescreen, but the app is still in memory)

    You can tap the app while its in card view.(Not fully displayed on the screen)

    If on Sprint, press the center button to minimize or that area that lights up on the other networks

    The closest you can get it to use the Clear Card app. This app is designed to allow you to keep your apps open and running, but still have the background wallpaper visible. Take a look at the discussion link below and the info and video the dev has posted in the above link.

    An option to consider is the Clear Card app. This allows you to "see" your wallpaper, but have the other apps off to the side because the card you have opened is just clear.
