Hey guys, I just added a PIN to my pre to prevent people from snooping through it. I decided on adding a rather long pin, i used pi so, 314159265358979. When i entered that into the PIN settings it was all fine, but now when i try to unlock my pre it is telling me that the pin is not valid. I really don't want to Doctor my pre as i have texts, videos and pictures on my phone which i do need to keep. Is there any way around this? Any info is appreciated.

Thats a password, not a pin. And all you can do now is doctor and learn from your mistakes. Dont use such a long password. You are pretty much entering the wrong password thats why its not accepting it.

Edit: Your pictures, Music and videos will be fine, but as for your text, it will be deleted. So will your call logs, internet browser history...

You can try retrieving the Palm database file and then replacing it after you doctor. Next time, just use a simple pin. Its not worth the hassle of having to doctor your Pre over and overly long password.

Pretty much. Connect the phone to webos QI
Open a terminal (through novacom or webos quick install > linux cmdline) and type the following:-
    cp /var/luna/data/dbdata/PalmDatabase.db3 /media/internal/

Thats going to place the file in internals partition. Then after you doctor.

Later when you want to restore contacts/sms/email/log, do:
Copy the file from your PC to Pre USB Drive and then type the following:
    cp /media/internal/PalmDatabase.db3 /var/luna/data/dbdata/

    Have fun!

Nope...And you're not moving anything. The command is going to move the copied file into media/internal. Hence the addendum at the end of the first command

Im not too sure if its because you're on the lock screen. Install the patch "Bypass lock screen" off the tweaks section on webos QI and see if it picks it up. But if it doesnt then, you might just have to lose your text, call logs and so on..

I would assume that the first time, you entered the right password. Then later entered the wrong password. Remember, if you miss just a single letter, symbol or number, then that password is wrong.

i have tried multiple variations with missing a single number. I shall keep on trying and disable the password if i get it, otherwise i will doctor. Once again, thank you very much for your help and your quick responces.

Not problem. Hopefully you get it right and then not have to doctor.

I GOT IT!!!! I took a peice of paper and wrote out all possiblities, missing numbers, or pressing a different number instead. It turns out then when i thought i put in 314159265358979 i really put in 314159265358978. One number, HUGE difference. May this be a lesson to everyone else, if you decide to use a pin, make it short . I have now gotten rid of the pin and will go pinless. Thanks again Jason

No problem Krab. I would advice that you install the bypass patch if you ever decide to use the password again and then delete the patch after a couple of days of getting use to the password.
