I am going on a trip today. I have a spare Pre that I want to bring in case my active phone goes bad while I'm away (I'm on Pre #10, hence the spare). I had activated and tested it a while back and it was still accessible, even after I returned to my current phone. But, eventually, I took the battery out or something, and now it just comes up to that annoying log in screen. I really want to make sure it's got everything my current Pre does, before I leave.

So... How can I turn on the Pre, as if it were active, without activating it?

    Thanks!

    This is what you want....

That or change your active ESN to the spare phone on the Sprint web site, activate the phone, change your ESN back to your usual Pre and then log back in with that phone.

Thanks! I don't have LINUX so I'll have to activate/deactivate/reactivate the phone. Or, most likely, just throw it in my bag and turn it on only if I really need to.

You can have your profile with all of your apps and info on more than one device as long as they are NEVER on at the same time. But you cannot have more than one ESN active on the same line at a time. If one goes bad and you turn it off completely, then turn the other one on (after you have gone through the whole first use thing and profile restore) you will show a phone signal but no data. The phone however will only make an emergency call or a call to Sprint until you have them activate the ESN on your line again.
Clicking the Thanks button is a great way to say... well THANKS

Good link slayer! I remember when I found myself with a spare pre trying to find a way to do this. Palm support said there was no way to use the pre without activation. A couple of Google searches later I found the developer.palm link and was in business. Now I have a pre to try out all those homebrew apps & patches with!
