Have any of you had issues with your Touchstone being a little screwy after being in a hot car? I got a TS for my car a few weeks back and LOVE having it there, I've noticed twice now when I put my Pre+ on it, the phone does the "charging" notification over and over. I'm 99% sure it's related to heat, because once the A/C gets going in the car, the problem seems to solve itself. It's been EXTREMELY hot here in Virginia this year, and I have a black car, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Should I bring the TS inside when I'm not using it? That would kind of defeat the whole purpose of having the TS in my car, but I don't want to damage the thing.

I've learned that it's best to let the car cool abit before charging a smartphone, pmp, gps before turning them on/charging them... Lithium ion batteries can get a little tempermental above 100° ambient temp, especially w/ humidity added in there

Mine does the same thing. If I just set the Pre on the console for 5 minutes or so till the car cools down it's fine. I wonder what it will do when it's 20 below out?

It will heat up by being on. Optimal temps are 20F - 100F. Any operation below or above that will lead to EED (Early Electronic Death).... sounds like a Cialis commercial....

every time I hear EED I think the same thing lol I have a ts in both the truck and the car and it worked fine during the winter..... Except when I hit the snow bank as a jump and lost the pre through the non existent shifter boot/floorpan (for the lift, hadn't finished it yet at the time, it's all welded up nice nice now)....(but I'm thinking about doin a floorpan drop since it has a 3in body lift now for extra room since I got mk3 supra seats for it now) anyways yeah... EED sucks, so don't leave your phone out in your car during winter... Cuz it could freeze off the battery lol

remember the "greenhouse effect" of sunlight coming through car windows adds to the heat generated by the actual touchstone.

I keep mine in the console unless I'm driving, and I have it mounted in front of an air vent on the dashboard with a ProClip mount, so the air conditioner keeps everything nice an cool Otherwise the phone gets too hot just from running google maps.

PS, I made it removable using the ProClip "move clip" as pictured here. This isn't my post, but it's where I got the idea:

I live in Texas with 100° temperature (120° + in the car) and have a touchstone in my car that I use every day with no problem. If I get the repeated charging notification (hot or cold), I simply reposition the phone on the touchstone and I’m good to go.

Edit: I do use a sunscreen to keep the sunlight off of the touchstone.

Just to be clear -- I don't leave the PHONE in the car ... just the TS. The phone is always with me. I'd be nuts to leave that thing in a hot car! I guess the best course of action is to wait until the car cools off a bit before putting my phone on the TS.

Tried that ... after repositioning several times, it was still giving me trouble. Once the car cools off, it seems to go away. I didn't think a heated up charger would do this, but I guess the TS is no ordinary charger.

I had that issue with the touchstone in my Mustang. I mounted it on the console so it was in direct sunlight most of the day while it was parked. I got one of those windshield-reflector things to keep the inside of the car cooler and i haven't had the problem since.

Probably keeping it under the seat or in the glove compartment might help a bit. Just my suggestion

I had issues for a while with the TS on my dash. Bought a Braketron GPS holder and I use the GTF (? Name ?) case that has the precut circle to secure it. I hooked it to my vent and now I just keep the air on and it keeps the phone cool. I use Sprint Nav and Pandora in California heat.

    No more problems.

I'm in Texas and have the same issue as the OP. I have just started waiting until the car cools down a bit before I put the phone on the Touchstone.
