    Hi,

I succeed unlocking GSM SFR Palm Pre 2.
I contacted DigitalUnlock (support@650unlock.com), and they give me the last beta software (1.12-b)
It worked perfectly ! (voice and data)

    If it can help...

Yes, my Palm Pre 2 works on Bouygues now.

Open the Phone app (the dialer), tap the upper left corner, and select Preferences in the menu. Scroll down. Do you see Manual Settings? I think I read somewhere that option does not display on ATT devices.
I have an AT&T Palm Pre Plus. That option does display ... at least in the panel labeled "network" . In that panel it has "Microcell" with no choices, "Data roaming" (enabled or disabled options), "Data usage" (on or off), and "manual settings" (on or off). HTH.

I have read through this entire thread. OK, I've got a weirdo: I have an AT&T Pre Plus, running on AT&T. I sought to unlock it before going to the UK and using a different SIM there. So I did the "unlock" thing (still awaiting a T-Mobile to test it) from Nextgen, and ended up with this:

I enter the #*8727277# code and press 'dial'. It does NOT (as I said in my last post) seek an entry from "Pre Pass through Keygen" (though I have that code, generated anew), but goes DIRECTLY the "USB Passthrough Control" screen.

Selecting the "Configure ..." screen shows me the EXACT SAME RESULT as I reported on November 25. That result is ALL ports set to "None" and "Use USB Net" set to "DISABLED".

So I restarted the phone and plugged it back in again. I STILL get "charging battery" only, no USB options at all. Clearly there's another state that it is stuck in, and that state needs to be undone to return the phone to normal operating condition.

I was told to set to "diag" and "let it reboot". It did not do so on its own, so I went into 'options" and hit "reset". Then set it back to "none". Charges battery only. Unplugged from USB. Replugged into different point on hub. Nothing, not even charging. Responded to NO keys, screen & keyboard respond to no contact at all. Calling it from a landline goes right to voicemail, despite showing many bars, the microcell, and the wifi signal. Pulled battery to restart that way. Came back to life.

Re-keyed code, looked at status. All = "none" or "disabled".

Whereupon Nextgen said "I have never seen this before. if all options are set to none, and you have disabled the bottom option, in usb passthrough control"

And then said "it's nothing to do with the unlock software, it is an issue with your handset, You can install a webos doctor with the phone in recovery mode."

Which makes me nervous. How much am I going to wipe out by doing the "recovery" mode thing? Is there another thread to calm that nervousness?

NEWS FLASH: If this happens, just 'chat' with Palm support. Turns out, having a USB hub connected up creates conflict. Running the Pre direct into the rear USB port = problem solve! The USB hub will now become Mr. Occasional.
  6. #146
Finally some good news: after a number of odd glitches, the Pre has a T-Mobile SIM card after being unlocked via nextgen's program, and actually sees a better signal that AT&T's.

One of them was the phone's seeming inability to go into USB mode, solved by Palm's chat help. It seems that USB hubs can conflict with the "regular" USB ports and, when the hub's disconnected, the phone goes into USB mode right away.

AT&T's Customer Care folks seem now to be leaning toward unlocking the phone after a threat to jump ship and simply eat the early termination penalty (which isn't all that much after one factors in the better deal T-Mobile offers). OTOH, their failure to honor the settlement agreement may rise to the level of substantial breach, and may well get me out of the contract by itself.

If so, then there'll be an AT&T microcell hitting fleabay shortly thereafter.

OP knows what the IMEI of his phone is.

    (a) It's just not on any of the unlock lists that are available through unlock code vendors, (b) AT&T will not provide the unlock code, (c) he doesn't have a Windows machine to run the JIC unlock client on.

    Ok, here's the story
Wanted to unlock my pre plus with the nextgen server.
Tried the discount code from GuyFromNam: it didn't work though tech support claimed it did.
    I paid full price.
didn't get the license cause they put me through some security check
    Got the codes this morning.
Tried the v28 client on three machines following the instructions to the letter.
Not once did it detect my palm.

Finally this evening I tried the v27 on my GF computer and it detected the palm (the v28 didn't on the same computer)
It gave me codes but when put in palm it didn't work kept saying wrong pin. Palm is asking for unblock code, tried all the codes from the v27 output. None worked. Retried running V27 with the unblock option checked. It goes through 100

An overwhelming majority of Palm devices have been unlocked with the JIC client. It is by far the most reliable, and cost effective way to unlock your phone.

Use version 28 of the unlock client.
    Connect the Pre.
    Enable DIAG Mode.
    Check Reset Unblock Counter
    Click Unlock.

If the Reset Unblock Counter doesn't work, it may be because your modem firmware version is not supported.
Please don't start a rant here though. Neither JIC/NextGen, nor me punched in TEN incorrect network unlock codes on your device.
I can help you install a recent, supported modem firmware version if you're interested.
Just for the record, this wasn't a rant, Im just relating my experience and asking for help, this is what this community is all about after all.

The v27 client worked though it didn't reset the counter. it gave me the codes but the phone keeps asking for unblock code.

The v28 didn't detect pre, theres not even a check box for resetting blocked phone like on v27.

Im waiting for nextgen response but i don't think it will be before monday.

here's a screenshot, in case you doubt my words.

PS: I'm interested in upgrading my modem firmware thanks for your offer

I received a reply from nextgen at 7:30 AM. The first attempt for a fix failed (due to a connection error on my internet line).

For accessing linux it's good, I use terminal on a daily basis (ssh to my computer) and can access palms root shell from my pc with no problem. What's the next step?

This procedure is for trying to fix an SOS Only phone.
However, it's basically the same thing: reinstalling your modem firmware. You're just doing it for another reason.

Mind all the warnings OK? And I cannot guarantee it will solve your unblock problem, but this is my best guess.
Be sure to pick the right webOS Doctor. Pre Plus AT&T: http://palm.cdnetworks.net/rom/prepl...p101ewwatt.jar

The file you're looking for is may not be called castleumtsfw.tar, but it has a castle and a umts in the file name. If you need any help, PM me OK?
I'm not here all the time.

I'm having the same issue, its not detecting the phone, even though the drivers are showing as installed and active in device manager.

They have replied to my ticket today to say they are looking into it.

    Ok.
So first of all the good news: my pre is finally unlocked.
Apparently I had a really bad day when unlocking so that every step in the procedure was following Murphy's law
Finally I used v27 of the JIC unlocker (google it (try "jic client v27 unbranded") or PM GuyFromNam who is a really kind forumer and will gladly provide it) I don't know if it would be ok to attach it in this thread so I won't.
I had to install novacom drivers and put the phone in dev mode (in addition to passthrough mode set to diag with the JIC drivers installed). after a few trials and errors My Pre plus is now unlocked.
Thanks NextGen and GuyFromNam for your patience and prompt support.
Good luck to the rest who are still waiting to unlock.

PS: nextgen should link every credit to an IMEI number so the the credit wouldn't be wasted if the client failed during the procedure (error or connection loss) and we could run it again on the same phone.
I hope the V28 gets fixed soon, it was frustrating to be told that it worked fine whereas on the field it made me nuts.

I bought nextgen multi unlock utility/client last Saturday and received the file via email. It was version 28 and it would not detect my ATT Palm Pre Plus either! I emailed their support and they replied saying they'd look into it. Does anyone have version 27 for download for me?
  16. #156
thanks to kamezepine, I was able to download the v27 of the multiunlock utility and using the login and password from v28 (actually, v27 installation auto detected the login and password) FINALLY I was able to unlock my ATT Palm Pre Plus!!! Such as simple fix and they wont' give it out, why why why??? It made me wait three days of pure agony and I had to waste $9 to some other shady site (I'm looking at you Freedom Unlock - AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!)

    Hi,

    Before do anything i have some question. Today i have received an Palm PrPrPr $Plus$ $from$ $Palm$ ($this$ $device$ $was$ $sent$ $to$ $me$ $for$ $free$ $durring$ &$quot$;$the$ $Opportunities$ $for$ $Development$&$quot$;). $But$ $i$ $live$ $in$ $France$ $and$ $the$ $device$ $is$ $currently$ $locked$ $to$ $the$ $AT$&$amp$;$T$ $network$ $so$ $when$ $i$ $start$ $the$ $Pr$ $plus$ $with$ $my$ $sim$ $its$ $show$ $this$ $message$ :

    Network Unlock Code

If i correctly understand this thread i need to buy an code to nextgenserver? But its not possible to get directly the "Network Unlock Code", i need to put my device in a specific mod to apply the nextgenserver method or its no longer necessary ?

I hope i was clear with my explanation.

    Best regards

I have buy an unlock code to Nextgen but i don't have received any Login / password in the email back ...

    Two information are missing:

    - The User Name detail.
    - The Password derail.

I don't have any trace of it on the email i have received, on the facture in the email... i have payed 19€ for nothing :S.

    Any idea ?

The unlock is permanent. The only way to reverse the unlock is to send it to Palm or AT&T for repair. In that case you will need to start all over again.
