I keep getting this error message whenever I connect my pre, "one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it."

I really need to get some pictures and other things off my phone.

I have restarted my computer and my pre and I have tried with both developer mode on and off.

    any ideas?

what system r u using? all you need to do is restart services. open start menu typr run in search and pull up the run menu and type in services.msc and when it pulls up the list of services scrool down to palm novacom or novacomd which ever is there with novacom i the title , then right click and hit restart. hope this helps

Unless the OP has never used WOSQI and doesnt have novacom installed on their computer, in which case they need to make sure dev mode is off (although admittedly I cant imagine a scenario where they would have it on and not have been working on it with the comp.)

it is a confusing thing turning it on will show an off to the right which would make some think its off when actually its on and same goes the other way ... ive been on here a while and alot of people have done this accidentally thinking it was on when it was not .

If you're plugging it into the front of your computer, try plugging it into the back.

    This might help: http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pr...m-devices.html

Make sure novacomd is enable, developer mode is on, and pre is securely plug up to computer.

    Good Luck.

I had this problem and installed palm sdk, it worked, cant tell you why but it worked.

Install 32 bit unless you have vista or windows 7 then install 64 bit.

ok, I got it to work. I think I must have a faulty cord. It charges my phone in the wall just fine, but there must be some problem attaching to the computer because I tried my sisters cord and no problem at all it worked. thank you all for your help and suggestions.
