Just had a great idea while thinking in the shower. HP should buy the internet!!! Think about how much money they could make of charging their competitors an entry fee to the information highway!

    "sounds lucrative" right???

Very true, but even if they don't roll out these new services right away, the future of the mobile market is becoming so balkanized, HP has no choice but to build it's own ecosystem.

Used to be there were lots of 3 party companies willing to play with everyone. But with Google and Apple (and Microsoft) buying up services and technologies - and then favoring their own products - it's going to get tough for anyone who doesn't have stuff to build their own universe.

Think Google Voice and Maps, iTunes, MS Office, ActiveSync, etc. It was nice when products features were made available to all and competition was based more on implementation than availability, but those days are probably over.
