I am currently using a Palm Centro on Verizon. I want to get the Pre Plus, but am concerned about the calendar which is my fave part of the Centro. I only use one calendar, can I customize colors on the Pre Plus? For instance, now I have purple for me, blue for my work schedule, yellow for birthdays, etc. Also, does the Pre Plus have an agenda view like the Centro? Thanks for any info on this!

I think the patch ubercalender does the colour thing. Or you could have your lifestyle set up as your palm profile account and work as a gmail account and this will give you a colour system, but I think the patch is more elegant, see http://forums.precentral.net/showthread.php?p=2424572

For the agenda view I'm not sure what the centro does exactly but there is an agenda homebrew application, see http://www.precentral.net/homebrew-apps/agenda and there is a patch that allows a drop down menu in card view that shows you all of your scheduled calender events for the day, see http://forums.precentral.net/homebrew-apps/224544-mode-switcher.html

It's also possible without patches. The Pre gives you one color for each calendar in the cloud. Palm profile calendar events can get a color and for each additional color you want you can have a separate google calendar. This doesn't mean you need multiple google calendar accounts. Rather each google calendar is sort of equivalent to a category in the old Palm OS (on the Centro).

I can't say this about the Pre Plus but the Pre does have color options for calendar. There is a separate app called Agenda (that's free) and has a lot of options. See the attached photo's of these.

You're going to have to break your one calendar into many (one for each category) and set the colors differently for each one. The Pre does not support using multiple colors for one calendar.

What I would try to do is see if you can get a .ical file for each color you have in your one calendar and then upload that .ical file as a calendar in Google Calendar. I don't know what program you are managing your calendar with (Outlook, Palm Desktop?), but hopefully it provides this option to you.

That's what I do, one main calendar on Google and 4 or 5 sub-calendars.

Some answers above address the color customizing, but beware that the Calendar on Pre has a much bigger problem that Palm refuses to acknowledge - you can't add attendees from Contacts.

Palm has never had a phone that allowed you to add attendees. On PalmOS, there was a product called "Good" which had a calendar, but the stock PalmOS calendar couldn't do that.

This was one of the greatest disappointments to me switching to the Pre from my many differerent Palm's, the last being the Centro. I have been a long time user of Agendus and loved how it would integrate the Calendar, Address, and Tasks of the built in Palm programs. I installed Classic and continue to use Agendus as it is still far superior. I can hotsynch to my Palm Desktop through Classic and then use the Palm Data Transfer Assistant if I want my Calendar in the Pre Calendar. The Pre Calendar and Address programs remind me too much of the junk that I found on my Blackberry Storm.

Almost went back to my Centro, but after finding some of the great things that HomeBrew and Preware provide to really make the Pre work, I have really come to enjoy my Pre. Well, at least as long as the battery holds out

Thanks for all the input. I may just have to keep my Centro, as the calendar is what I use the most and the hassle of having more than one calendar doesn't even sound like fun!

Web OS uses the same calendar philosophy as Google does. You no longer use "categories", instead each category is a separate calendar. It isn't really that much of a change. You still see all of your entries. When you create a new entry instead of choosing a category you choose your calendar.

Setup a free Google calendar and try it out.

Ya, Ubercalender still doesn't deal with the color in monthly view, It just shows All day events as colors which really doesn't help out at all, but this is not his fault, This is Palm's API's that will not let you have multiple colors in each day and kinda use a quick glance to know if you work or something that weekend, PalmOS calender is still far better then webOS, but webOS will one day get full colors calender once it matures a little bit more.

I still use my Palm Treo 680 just for the calender, but am slowly getting used to webOS.

If you do get a Pre I strongly suggest you installing ubercalender cause it's so far the best calender out there.

I think the second link is the wrong link for what you are talking about.... I think you were talking about this patch.

If I am wrong my apologies.
