Has anyone recently tried to get a Palm Pre (Sprint) replaced through Sprint? I just called three stores (I live in Boston) within the area and none of them said they had any in-stock...***?

When they answered, I merely asked if they had any in-stock. They said no and that they could order some for me and then they proceeded to ask me what it was for.

wont sprint customer service just ship you one? VZ ships me a phone and then I switch when it arrives. They even include a shipping label to return the old one. The only time I am without a phone is the few minutes to activate the new one.

The only time I ever went to a store to get a replacement was when my phone was dead and I needed one that minute. Once I had to drive 4 hours to get to one that had a Treo of any kind, but my Treo died while I was travelling...

I'm obviously not with Sprint, but I hate going in to stores with limited support knowledge and commissioned sales people when I can call customer support and get what I need shipped within 24 hours... Does Sprint have such a thing? Whoever answers the phone, I politely ask to speak to a PDA specialist and have my call escalated - because i only call when I have an issue that 15 years of using Palm products doesn't cover - like a dead usb port...

I just did the same with T-Mobile with my grandmother's HTC. I don't believe Sprint does this, but I didn't ask. Anyone have any news on this?

It's frustrating to have to drive to these places (like you said). One store even said that, "we don't replace them past 30 days" and it was the manager. I had to tell him I had it replaced a few months ago at that exact store. He just stayed silent for a second and told me to call another store. That was only a small part of the conversation. Ugh.

They did the same with me, but I can't go back for another few days and I'd rather have one now... They also (even according to the reps) are giving new ones and they didn't have any in-stock. I'm trying to figure out why they don't and how common this is...

Well, can't hurt to call Sprint and see about it. After much whining, they sent me a Moment to test the reception in my home (but I wanted an Airave....and yes, I sent the Moment back), it arrived the next day. They even have a website Phone Replacement Tracking which you use to track your phone's arrival and the progress of your returned phone (they provide the envelope). If you do it quick, you might get them to create the order and schedule a pickup in time to get it Friday! Otherwise, it won't ship until Friday and you won't get it until Monday because they don't use the Saturday option for UPS.

ETA: Fixed the link. The email you the info for the site when they notify you of your replacement order.

    Hi all,

I did not want to start another thread, so I felt this was an OK place to post my message.

I need to call Palm's Customer Support, not Sprint's.

I am going to try and beg for a temporary replacement Pre - (minus) because too many things are broken on my phone and I don't want to have to move over to Android. I've been trying to hold on until Palm puts out the new phones.

Yes, I'm on Sprint, so that adds to the wait time.

I have a broken power button, a cracked screen (which starts at the usb port) and I've heard that in some cases that warrants a replacement. But worst of all, my 'shift' key is not working at all. Only the 'shift' key. That makes writing messages or emails impossible or unacceptable for me.

All the other issues, I have been living with, but I really can't live with the 'shift' key broken.

So I need the phone number to Palm that people have called that have been able to get the replacement phones.

I do have the Sprint insurance, but I'm not going to waste $100 on a replacement (if they can even supply a replacement at this point) when I'm going to be getting a new phone as soon as HP puts them out. Most times, $100 is not important to me, but I'm on disability and funds have gotten really bad for me lately. So putting $100 towards a deductible is not something I'm willing to do. I should really turn off the insurance today as well since I'm not going to use it anyway.

Again, anyone know Palm's customer service phone number that is used for 'begging' for a replacement.

    Thanks!

I don't know for sure if this will help, but have you tried contacting Palm through this website?:

doesn't sprint have a $30 repair fee? Have you taken it to a sprint store? My brother just had his screen replaced (Sprint Pixi) for a $30 copay or something.

I actually never tried to go to the Sprint store. But I guess it would not hurt.

But I do know there is a phone number that you can call, I just couldn't find it today when I did the search.

Maybe I should try the chat solution that was mentioned above.

    Rob

    And thanks all again!

Just called, they want $199 to FIX my Pre-!

    Ha, are they crazy!

So either I live with a shift key not working, or I am now forced to move to Android.

Because I will not spend that kind of money to repair a 2 year old Pre-!

So if anyone knows the CEO's address, I will try and write a letter! I've got nothing more to loose here.

This is how they are trying to hold onto WebOS users!

    Not great!

if you have the Sprint insurance there should be no charge for the replacement. Call them.
