Hi, I bought a Palm pre plus from ATT no contract.

I got back to Canada to find out that it has to be activated!!!

To unlock it I have to activate and to get data I need it unlocked.

Can I bypass the activation in any way or am I SOL?

    Thanks alot for any help.

I'm confused. You can't activate it until it's unlocked, and you can't unlock it until it's activated?

Hmm, I think I get it now.

Running the doctor may take some time, but it will work in the end.

    Alright, thanks.

It took me enough time to convince the sales person to sell me the phone without being a client.

I already got my unlock code, just waiting on linux and the doctor.

Ill give an update in the morning.

Yeah, some AT&T store employees can give you a tough time. They want to rack up their commissions by getting people to sign their contracts. It always angers them when someone comes in, knows what they want, and mentions "no commitment device". You get used to it after a while. Let us know how everything goes!

Hey, I was wondering where you got the unlock code for the AT&T PP+?

Let us know how it goes!

If you buy the phone outright, At&t will usually give you the unlock code if you ask for it.
    Just call me Berd.

what Carrier are you using it on?

I cancelled my AT&T account in November (in good standing) and switched to T-Mobile. They'll still give me an unlock code? That would be awesome.

    He's on Telus...
Palm IIIc -> Sony CLIÉ T650C -> Sony TJ-37 -> Palm TX -> Palm Centro -> Palm Pre Bell -> Palm Pre Plus Bell/Verizon Hybrid -> HP Veer -> HP Pre 3 NA -> BlackBerry Classic -> BlackBerry Priv

It's a Late Goodbye, such a Late Goodbye.

Need OEM Palm Pre parts? See here

Ok, got the phone working, can make calls and text.

I can't seem to get data to work though.

Telus doesn't use the User login apn thing.

Non TELUS devices: set up data*|* Phones and devices*|* Support*|* TELUS Mobility

What do I need to do to get data to work?

You probably need to modify CarrierNetworkSettings.db3...

    http://discussion.treocentral.com/gs...-settings.html

And I guess my other worry has come true: Palm didn't put Bellus' HSPA network settings in the database, was about to check tonight in the AT&T doctor.

PS: If you're in Toronto, I'd love to help you out to get it working. I'm planning to get one myself too, so I'll need it working for Bell.
