i am a little confused on which patches and apps do what. I basically want to find out the easiest way to do an update (when it comes out) and return my pre back to its preware glory. Currently when an update arrives I
    1st uninstall 800mhz kernel.
    2nd remove all patches
    3rd download and install update
4th try to remember which patches I had and add them back on.
5th if 800mhz kernel is compatible then I install it again on my pre.

    Is there an easier way?

    thanks

No need to uninstall the patches, just the 800 mhz kernel. That's what AUPT is for

Remember, you do have to remove themes before an update. They are not covered by the AUPT process.

If you have uber kernel then you do not need to remove this before an update since it is ota safe. You should set the speed back to stock in govnah or cpuscaler though. With patches, you do not need to remove, just update them after the update.
