    Hi,

I'm testing uberkernel with screenstate governor (500Mhz min / 600Mhz max)
But my battery drain is strange.
During work time, the drain is above 1% per hour.
    When I'm home, more than 6% !

The only difference is the network. 3G during the day, and edge at home.
So my pre is crazy much more drain in 2G than 3G !

I tried userscale at 600 Mhz. Drain is about 2%, home or work.
    Very strange...

UnixPsycho, are you able to explain why your "modified" LunaSysMgr (which clearly isn't yours anymore - I guess your uninstall worked!) and the one I just pulled out of the Doctor's .tar do not match the md5sum Palm says should be on my device?

hmm. maybe i wasnt keeping up with the convo you were having with Rod about this.

    @ Xanadu73

Did you make sure the version of the Doctor you are pulling from is the same version of WebOS currently on your phone?

I would check my Doctor file for verification that md5sum matches but I'm not at home to get to it.

I just downloaded a fresh copy of The Doctor's .jar in case I lost track and was indeed using an older one. Same thing:

    Code:
    /# md5sum /media/internal/LunaSysMgr.new
    ca6a3981c382b01a559d7186742f1fe5 /media/internal/LunaSysMgr.new

    Hmmm... even more curious...

I just looked at the /md5sums file in the .jar I just downloaded and:

    Code:
    ca6a3981c382b01a559d7186742f1fe5 *./usr/bin/LunaSysMgr
So, the /md5sums file currently on my Pre is the wrong one?

    Curiouser and curiouser.

Well, I hope you have what you need sooner, but when I get home this afternoon I will check mine. The file on my phone now, matches what the md5sum says it should be. And the doctor on my PC at home is what I used to Doctor my phone just a couple of weeks ago. So, it all should match if everything is right.

    EDIT...

    ca6a3981c382b01a559d7186742f1fe5 /usr/bin/LunaSysMgr

This is what I have on my phone and is in my md5sum,

Possibly I missed this... but every time my phone restarts Govnah reverts to userspace 500mhz instead of the Screenstate 800/500. Is there any way to get that setting to stick? I have a reboot scheduler running overnight so it's reverting everyday.
  9. #429
I have a reboot sched also, so I guess the reboot sched needs to run govnah automatically after a reboot. Just switched to Jason R. reboot sched and hopefully he will add something like this, please JR come to our rescue again.

Ive been using Govnah with screenstate min 500 Max 800 and have noticed that the camera app works slowly (like its only 500Mhz again). Any1 else notice this?
I Still am loving the Uber-Kernel & Govnah, thanks for such a great improvement over stock Pre

hm this is weird. I just extracted latest version of webosdoctor.jar, found LunaSysMgr file with md5sum of: ca6a3981c382b01a559d7186742f1fe5. deleted bad file from /usr/bin on my palm pre. copied extracted file to /usr/bin. restarted pre and my md5 sum is: ce8ab50242283ea66592d5380041de2d which doesn't match restored file. weird

Indeed! It seems you predicted the future! (or great minds think alike - which ever... ).

So, I guess I'm OK then and it's just a matter of: For whatever reason the 1.4.1.1 update didn't update my /md5sums. I haven't doctored since 1.4.0.

Fantastic work once again by all involved packaging this thing up. Govnah is a really neat app, I really like the simultaneous moving graphs

So now I have Uber installed along with Govnah, using screenstate 500->720 and everything works fine with the exception of the camera issue that several people have commented about. I get some major 4-5 second freezes and extreme shutter lag when running at 720+. If I set the range from 500->600, the camera is fine again. I've switched back and forth a few times to make sure it wasn't my imagination, but unfortunately it does look like anything over 600mhz clock bugs out my camera.

Just an observation that may or may not be correct.. it SEEMS like there's some sort of issue when the app is trying to create that little thumbnail of the last picture in your photo roll that shows up in the lower right corner of the camera screen. What would generally happen is that my camera app would open with the greyish overlay and the camera controls visible, but not that tiny thumbnail. It would hang for a few seconds, the grey would go away and the app would hang for another few seconds, then the thumbnail would appear. If I took a pic, the whole thing would hang again for 4ish seconds and then spring back to life and the new thumbnail pic would show up. Could it have something to do with read/write to the flash memory?

I commited a fix for the camera problems. and maybe other weird pauses while overclocking.

should be in the next Uber release.

pardon me for asking but when will this be release? Question, should the frequency show 800 on the touchstone or 500,when using the screenstate 500-800?

Would you consider adding instructions to the opening post?
    ---------------------------------
The following guide assumes a Palm Pre/Pre+ that has the original 1.4.1.1 kernel and no over-clocking patches. (Currently unavailable for Pixi/Pixi+ or other kernels.)

    1. On Preware's homescreen, type "uber" and hit enter.
    2. Select "Uber-Kernel (Palm Pre/Pre+)" and "Install"
    3. Restart as directed
    4. If you have not yet installed a "Governor", on Preware's homescreen, type "Gov" and hit enter.
    5. Select "Govnah" and "Install"
    6. Open the Govnah app and select
    Goveneror: "Screenstate"
    Min Freq: "500 MHz"
    Max Freq: "800 MHz"
    -------------------------------------
Or if there is something better use those instructions. What do you think?

    You could go
    4.
    5.
    1.
    2.
    3.
    6.
    And safe a preware start/download feeds/... :-)

And again : great work, thanks to all of you.

I agree with milominderbender's suggestion in post# 438 and would also like to suggest that post #1 include the date, version#, and a description of all updates made to the Uber kernel. Thanks in advance. thorne
