Has anyone else experienced this? I used the Nextgen Server solution (Palm Pre Unlock, Unlock Palm Pre Network & SIM locks) to unlock my Palm Pre and allow me to use my T-Mobile SIM without the Rebel SIM (and I've finally been able to upgrade to 1.4.1). Everything works wonderfully, and I've every reason to believe that I am now the proud owner of a fully unlocked GSM QWERTY Pre...however, the fly in the ointment seems to be that the phone no longer recognises being connected to a computer. It'll charge off of USB fine, but won't recognise that it's attached to a computer.

This a bit of a bummer for a number of reasons, not least because I can't get Preware back on my Pre.

    Has anyone got any ideas?

You need to get the Pre out of DIAG mode. See the manual of nextgen:

    Write down your serial number,
    Launch your phone app,
Type #*8727277# and press the green hook key,
Type your Serial in the PrePasskey generator which comes with the NextGen package,
Use the generated number to open the Diag settings,
Tap the DIAG port which is open, and select NONE

RTFM, it is all on page 4 of the NextGen manual.

@tomi666: is the nextgenserver way of unlocking foolproof? I don't want to end up with a bricked Pre (I read that the pmodemupdater can really brick it...)

Hi Richard, thanks a lot for this...I hope I'm not being thick, but the USSD code doesn't seem to be working. It says 'network failure'. Sorry if there's an explanation in the manual, but I'm at a train station right now! Any ideas?

Erm, I get it now, I was being thick. Thanks again, I'll have to try it tonight when I get back.

    "mpt x"

if you are having a problem with your usb not showing the option for usbmode/just charging, and your computer is trying to get you to install ethernet drivers and 2 other drivers:

    open terminal.
    type "mpt x" enter

then it should disable whatever you messed up trying to install freetether/enable usb net/ usb passthrough.
