No WebOS update here yet, but I did notice that Flash is now available in the app catalog.

Of course it's a joke, since hell hasn't frozen over yet.....

I am not planning to remove anything other than the theme I am using, and the 800mhz super-kernel. The only reason I am remioving the 800mhz super-kernel is because caj just released an updte and I'm still using the very first one.

I figure that if the update breaks something, I will have to doctor. if it doesn't, why go through all the effort to re-install patches. If it all works, Preware will take care of updating patches, and I can spend more time buying stuff at today's woot-off rather than removing patches and doctoring "just in case".

But that's me. I like to live dangerously.

Seriously, if you look around the forums the concensus seems to be that themes and overclocked/scaled kernels seem to be the only things that should be removed before updating...

I spoke to VZ Support on Monday and they didn't have a clue there was even a new version. Anythng new would violate the warranty!!

(They're also clueless as to the GPS problems, and won't even write up the display defects on mine!!! Amazing)

The "tier 1" reps are working from a script and don't know much. If you escalate to a smartphone specialist that really knows Palm (and you have to ask for them) you will be surprised at what they know... I always do that and that's probably why I have always been happy with VZ customer service.

I even did that when I was phone shopping so I could get a knowledgeable person to discuss the Droid Vs Pre. He didn't try to sell me anything, but he sure knew what each phone could do... and he recommended the Pre even though they had only been selling it a few days. He recognized the power of WebOS and was already a fan.

Hopefully only 3.5 more hours... It would be great to get the update on the same day Palm was bought by HP.
