That's a video-out cable. Normal Pres don't support that function though.

htc touch pro2, ipod, and several others have video out features. I wish I had it on the Pre for long trips. Since analog tv signals are gone, streaming local channels through the Pre to your car audio system would be the best.

I believe this has been discussed earlier - from what I recall, there's a spot on the mainboard for video out, but it's not hooked up to anything on current Pre's. For presentations, Palm can wire up an "out" to that spot.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

But yes, I'd love a TV-out somehow on my Pre. I won't be watching feature films, but it'd be really handy to be able to call up a video shot on the Pre, or a YouTube video, or photos, and shoot it to a large display.

You're correct. I remember discussing this here a long time ago.

hmmm really? Is it a simple video out?

I'll tear open my pre for that. lol

I know I brought it up in a thread in September. I do a lot of power point presentations and would love to be able to do them from my pre instead of having to lug around my laptop. Any one know how to hook up that portion of the board? I would probably be willing to pay for it if it could be done.

thinking there's some serious warranty voiding potential might want to wait the 6 weeks till it's expired to fiddle with it

have no idea what the spot on the mainboard for video out would look like but it's probably shown in this disassembly Rapid Repair - Palm Pre Repair Guide by RapidRepair

I enjoyed this guide. So that's what it looks like.
The article's author put 5 complaints here:

    1. The lack of flash support is borderline unacceptable.
    2. No Visual Voicemail, my Instinct had visual voicemail and I thought it was one of the best features.
    3. Application load times are bearable, but quite slow.
    4. The lack of an onscreen touch keyboard makes landscape browsing difficult.
    5. Also, my company doesn’t use MS Exchange so initially I could not sync the Pre with my outlook account. However, I downloaded Chapura Pocket Mirror and it works flawlessly, syncs to and from Outlook and the Pre.

Everything is solved pretty much (#3 with overclock) except one. "Borderline unacceptable" haha funny choice of words.
Actually Pre does have flash support only waiting for the plug-in to be develop..UHUM(finished).

The CPU is certainly capable of producing video-out. P|C member Binary Tech, in this thread http://discussion.treocentral.com/pa...projector.html, mentions the pin being connected to a test point and refers to this thread http://discussion.treocentral.com/we...tv-output.html.

Nothing since February, so I guess it was a dead end.

Binary Tech is still around. so maybe we'll get an update.

O.K. read both of those it looks like he needs this, "Only thing I really would like and would help bigtime is a better data sheet. for some reason the one i'm working off does not mention how to enable the video line so it has me scratching my head."

The guys over at palm have it. Maybe if I write them a nice letter they'll send it to me.
