Do you know if your evdo network where you live is still rev 0 or rev A? A is 25% faster than 0. The Pre is a rev A device, but if you are stuck with the rev 0 local network you are going to be stuck with slow speeds. Rev 0 and rev A are considered 3G, but there is a big difference. All I get is at best 400 Mbs download speeds on my rev 0 verizon local network, no matter what part of the city I am in.

I typcially hover around 1.2, depending on the day. Yesterday, though, for some reason I was stuck in 1x all day, bumped right back up to Rev A speeds around dinnertime. No particular reason, I guess.

This is the first time I have tested mine.

I ran it a few times with different size files, and it ranged from 1.2 to 1.8 on EVDO.

How do you know if it's rev a or 0?

I recently started using My Tether. No other patches. 1.4.1.1 -- getting DL speed of 1.2mbps on my mac mini, but only 600kbps on the iPad.

Any other issues with iPad tethering?

I have a Verizon Pre Plus with firmware CC1.4(510). WebOS 1.4 I was having IPOD / IPAD problems too so I ran some tests on other devices:
    Device Upload / Download
    --------------------------------------------------------
    HP pavilion DV6775 laptop 2.68 Mbps / 0.22 Mbps
    Lenovo Ideapad Y530 0.14 Mbps / 0.14 Mbps
    IBM Thinkpad T60 laptop 0.10 Mbps / 0.20 Mbps
    Apple Ipad 0.12 Mbps / 0.53 Mbps
Apple Ipod Touch 0.11 Mbps / 0.19 Mbps

As you can see, only the HP laptop has good bandwidth.

I also started a thread on the forum at the Palm website:
WebOS Software -> "Verizon Palm Pre Plus WebOS 1.4 MHS Moblie Hotspot bug"

    And Verizon Comunity Forums:
Palm Devices -> Mobile Hotspot Bug

If you are having this problem, please reply to the Palm forum thread.
